X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Reshoots Scheduled

Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past will return to Montreal for reshoots. Before anyone claims this is a sign of trouble, remember that a lot of recently successful blockbusters underwent reshoots as well.

X-Men Days of Future Past reshoots

Fox's seventh film in their X-Men franchise will shortly begin reshoots in Montreal. Quebec film commissioner Hans Fraikin confirmed the news that Singer and co. will be back for more filming. "A couple of weeks is a big reshoot," said Fraikin. But if you've been with us here at CBM for a while, you should know that reshoots are fairly common on big, blockbuster comic book movies such as this. Pretty much all the Marvel Studios films have reshoots, World War Z underwent reshoots and Mad Max: Fury Roads is currently undergoing reshoots. Fury Roads, could be a more pertinent example as the film reportedly looks great and the production was given more money from the studio to make an action scene bigger and more explosive. The same thing could very well be occurring with Days of Future Past.

Based on the tweet below, it appears that Daniel Cudmore aka Colossus is involved in the reshoots and unless the timeline is completely screwed up, it looks as if the reshoots will be for the apocalyptic future setting glimpsed in the debut trailer. Previously, it was said that 1/3 of the movie takes place in that far-flung future but I know many comic book fans are hoping to spend much more time there and with the giant sentinels. There's also the possibility that more scenes for Storm (Halle Berry) are being filmed as the Academy Award winning actress' pregnancy limited her ability to film action scenes during initial filming.

Just re-watched the first 2 X-Men flicks. I hadn't seen them in 7 years. I must admit, Singer did a great job and those films are now among my list of the greatest comic book movies ever made especially X-2. Not only is it a great CBM, but it's a great movie in general. Better than most CBMs coming out right now. It's now my favorite X-men movie followed by FC. DOFP has just become my most anticipated CBM coming next year. Thought I hate the leather black costumes, I'll give Singer credit where it's due. Singer raped our childhood, butchering some characters no doubt, but now we have to accept it and move on. I'm glad his back for this movie. Can't wait. Just my 2 cents.

i do like how each sorta had their own tone this year, iron man 3 i viewed as a 80s/90s action movie which is perfect for shane black because he made some of the best, man of steel was very much a science fiction film, the wolverine was a crime thriller/who dunit type film and thor was a science fantasy film

and i also like how next year looks varied in tone as well, cap is apolitical thriller, spidey looks like a more straightforward superhero film which is fine, xmen looks to this very epic drama and guardians is a space adventure film with tons of action, drama and comedy and one thing that iam looking forward to in guardians is that james gunn did a scene with chris pratt and dave abutista which is a one take action scene ,so its continous action scene without any edits and as an aspiring filmmaker like myself that has me excited

Days of Future Past will be better than Fury Road.

Way to go Hollywood for ruining a perfect Mad Max trilogy for Australia. You get a British dude for the main role and have half the cast consist of models and the studio has the film not shot in Australia.

Can we QUIT calling these "reshoots" that bring about the negative associations with that term?

I believe every Marvel movie have done pick-ups, as have LOTR and HOBBIT films I'm sure too.

The only real reshoots recently was probably WORLD WAR Z.

Maybe they're redoing the future stuff because the production design and costume design in the trailer were not well received.

Here's hoping.

Right. But you don't need reshoots to improve CG.

You do need reshoots to improve crappy costumes.

@racoonwithrockets -Hilarious. Hating a movie because it doesn't film in a certain country. As though Australia was at all necessary to the story line. The boomerang, that's it.

feedonatreefrog - 11/17/2013, 9:54 PM
@RRA

Yes I remember some fans thinking that, but I also remember average movie goes, myself included, thinking that the costumes looked cool.

These costumes on the other hand look really cheap, as does the lighting and the set design.
