Simon Kinberg Says He "Could See" An R-Rated X-FORCE MOVIE Following DEADPOOL's Success

Not that this is currently the plan, but the Deadpool producer does seem to think that the tone of an X-Force film could benefit from the more adult rating. More past the jump...

After the unprecedented success Deadpool has enjoyed since it released this past weekend, it was inevitable that fans were going to assume this would pave the way for more R-rated superhero movies - particularly based in Fox's X-Men Universe. This may very well be the case, but the fact remains that not every character would benefit from this in the same way the Merc With A Mouth Did.

Wolverine? Possibly - but with Logan already successfully established in a PG-13 continuity, it's very unlikely the studio would change things up. There is one team-based movie in the works (or at least, it was until very recently) that could work very well with a bit more violence and profanity thrown in, however.

After their IMAX screening of Deadpool, Collider asked producer Simon Kinberg if he envisioned any other "specific properties" being rated R down the line. "I think there are some stories that could be R-rated," he responded. "I don’t know what they are, I mean I think the mainline X-Men movies have their own tone, which is a more operatic tone. It’s more dramatic, it is more PG-13 in a way. X-Force I could see being R-rated, and who knows?" Kinberg is quick to clarify that this doesn't mean the film will be Rated R, just that he could see it working. It makes sense of course, as Wade Wilson would likely be on the team, possibly along with the likes of Colossus, Archangel, Psylocke, and Cable who we now know will be introduced in the Deadpool sequel.

Director Jeff Wadlow was on board the X-Force movie at one point but it seems to have slipped off Fox's radar for the time being. If they do get back on track, would you like to see it rated R? Do I even need to ask that question?

I hope its rated R if its due to violence... Don't do it just to throw a tittle on screen... and don't get me wrong, i'm all for titties.

@slickrickdesigns - if they bother making it R-rated, they'll probably take advantage of it fully

@Effusion - but only if they're good, James gunn summed it up earlier. Studios will see r rated comic book movies =$ when it's not the case. Deadpool is so successful because we've waited forever to see it.

Kinberg needs a win after the last film he wrote and produced right? Deadpool was so good because its a labour of love, kinberg will try and shoe horn him into everything wolverine style and this is the first fox film made by fans for the fans.

@TheDarkPassenger - Now here’s the twist, and there is a twist: We show it. We show all of it. Because what’s the one major thing missing from all action movies these days guys? …Full penetration. Guys, we’re gonna show full penetration and we’re gonna show a lot of it! I mean, we’re talking, you know, graphic scenes of Dolph Lundgren really going to town on this hot young lab tech. From behind, 69, anal, vaginal, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, all the hits, all the big ones, all the good ones. Then he smells crime again. He’s out busting heads. Then he’s back to the lab for some more full penetration. Smells crime, back to the lab, full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, full penetration, crime, penetration. And this goes on and on, and back and forth, for 90 or so minutes until the movie just, sort of, ends.
