X-MEN '97 Reportedly Expected To Premiere On Disney+ This Fall Despite Recent Delay Rumors

X-Men: The Animated Series revival X-Men '97 is one of Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated projects, and we now have a positive update on when the show is likely to arrive on Disney+. Check it out!

X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in 1992 and ran for a total of 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans and delivered a near-perfect take on the mutant team that still resonates to this day.

Marvel Studios is revisiting the franchise in the upcoming Disney+ revival X-Men '97, with most of the original cast returning to pick up where that series left off. Needless to say, excitement for this one is rapidly building but with some MCU TV shows reportedly being pushed into 2024, there have been concerns this revival might be among them.

Head Writer Beau DeMayo recently suggested that won't be the case, and information shared by the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers moderators (via Toonado.com) potentially offers a better idea of when we'll actually see X-Men '97 on the streaming service.

Apparently, the show is currently aiming for a September/October 2023 debut in order to coincide with the anniversary of X-Men: The Animated Series.

While nothing is confirmed at this point, we're sure this rumour will come as a relief, particularly after recent claims What If...? season 2 might be pushed back as far as 2025 (which we find hard to believe given recent merch sightings). As for when we might get an official update on premiere plans, we'd bet on news being shared during this July's San Diego Comic-Con.

Wolverine voice actor Cal Dodd recently confirmed he's already working on season 2 of X-Men '97, and with one insider alleging that the plan is for the show to run for a total of 4, we're sure this series has a bright future on Disney+.

The X-Men will eventually be rebooted for live-action, of course, and X-Men '97 seems like a great way to familiarise many fans with the team before they join the MCU. After all, Fox's movies are quickly becoming a distant memory and, outside of a few exceptions, are best off forgotten.

@bobevanz - could always release the premiere on October 31 and then start releasing other episodes on the wednesdays or fridays.

Think they did the same with the first season of The Bad Batch as well with it premiering on May 4.

@SonOfAGif - there is character designs available for the relaunch if I'm not mistaken. I hope we get some What If/DragonBall Z type action sequences.

@HydraB0b - I would like to see the same animation style as Dragon Ball Super Broly. A blend of animated and CGI.

@HydraB0b @SonOfAGif I'd watch the hell out of an X-Men cartoon animated like this:

I really hope we get a season dedicated adapting HoXPoX and Krakoa before it's all said and done. There's alot of good storyline we never got in the original. Magneto leading the X-men, House of M, AoA I could go on.

Guess they don't need those re-shoots after all.

Exiles and MCU multiverse connections would be cool.

@ObserverIO - Considering Morph's significant roles in the animated series, this seems like a fantastic path to take. Give me Exiles!
