Ian McKellen Will Return For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE; THE WOLVERINE 2 = X-MEN 4?

Patrick Stewart has revealed that Ian McKellen will be returning as Magneto in X-Men: Apocalypse, and also lets slip some surprising new details about 2017's The Wolverine sequel. Is the movie going to be X-Men 4? Well, it sounds like it'll certainly be set in that continuity...

In an interview with Oregon Live, Patrick Stewart revealed some very interesting details about the future of the X-Men franchise which might just get him into hot water with bosses at 20th Century Fox! He's Patrick Stewart though, so he really doesn't have to worry about that kind of thing. Anyway, after saying that he believes the chances of him being in X-Men: Apocalypse are "very unlikely", he confirmed that we will once again see the older version of Magneto.

"But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it," the actor told the site. How on Earth he will factor into this story is a mystery as of right now, but that's certainly an interesting development. However, even more intriguing is what Stewart revealed about plans for The Wolverine 2. "And what I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of "X-Men" from the four movies that I've already done."

If that movie is set in the new continuity we first saw at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, some cameos from other returning favourites might just give fans the X-Men 4 movie they've all been waiting for. What do you guys think about a possible Wolverine/Professor X team-up?

This is interesting. If I had to chose between the two I think I'd rather have McKellen in Apocalypse. I guess he'll factor in in whatever way Blink will.
The Logan Xavier team up sounds interesting, I'm not sure how a wheelchair bound Xavier could keep up with Wolverine though.

Hmmmm, question is:

"Will The Wolverine sequel continue from the previous timeline before the events of Days of Future Past took place?"

Or could the Wolverine sequel focus on Logan and Professor X within the "fixed" timeline. If I'm correct, Mangold stated that he wouldn't start production on the sequel to the Wolverine until after X-Men: Apocalypse wraps up. In Days of Future Past we saw Professor X explaining to Logan that they had a lot of catching up to do with what happened while he was basically unconscious of his memories. Professor X and Logan just seems to be an odd team up of characters. Very interested in seeing how this all ties in together.

What about a Wolverine/Cyclops team-up instead?

wouldnt that be quite much more epic than Wolverine/Charles?

or Wolverine/Cyclops/Rogue. It would be like Fox's response to Civil War
