Before the
X-Men universe was reset at the end of
X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jean Grey and Charles Xavier didn't have the best relationship. I mean, it started off fine, but ultimately went downhill when she killed him in front of Magneto in
X-Men: Last Stand. Even though Charles returned at the end of
The Wolverine, none of that mattered because, Bryan Signer's
X-Men: Apocalypse will adapt the new timeline. Will Jean and Charles' relationship end up the same way in this new timeline? In a recent interview with
Digital Spy,
Sophie Turner (who now takes on the mantle as Jean Grey), revealed her thoughts on the topic.
"Xavier seems to have this thing - not a sexual thing - for these young, vulnerable girls who feel alienated and uncomfortable in their own skin." Sophie said.
"They have this unspoken bond because he's telepathic as well, he's gone through the same things. He's very powerful and he sees that growing in her. He wants to protect her and help her control her powers, but also help her access the best of her ability. They have a really sweet relationship."
Even though Charles Xavier will have a sweet relationship with Jean, Simon Kinberg revealed what we should expect from Erik and Charles.
"You watch Erik go through a trauma that takes him into a dark place, and ultimately by the end of the movie he evolves past that, and Charles is a big part of that." He then continued,
"At the beginning of the film, Erik is really trying to live a more human life - not necessarily a Charles life, but a normal life, and that gets shattered." If I had to guess, Erik's normal life will be crushed once Oscar Issac's Apocalypse enters the fray.
Going back to Jean now, Sophie spoke on Scott (Tye Sheridan) and Jean's chemistry in the film, and revealed that even though Tye's version of Cyclops is douchebag, they'll still get along just fine.
"It's really interesting to see the young douchebag Scott, and the young, shy Jean, and watching them fall out and make up and this weird chemistry they have." Sheridan quickly added, and revealed that his Cyclops is that way
"because a lot happened in his past, and he's damaged, and in this movie you kind of see why." What do you think about this? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
