Bryan Singer Drops Out Of All X-MEN: DOFP Promotion; Claims To Have Hawaii Alibi

In an expected move, it seems the director has decided it'd be best to bow out of all future promotion for his new X-flick in light of the sexual abuse allegations against him. Singer also says that at the time of the alleged abuse, he can prove that he was shooting X-Men 1 in Canada.

Buzzfeed reports that Bryan Singer will not be doing any press to support X-Men: Days of Future Past. We figured this would be the case, as the director has found himself in the middle of a very serious situation involving allegations of rape -- although he has denied any wrongdoing through his lawyer Martin Singer (no relation), who calls the claims made against Singer “completely fabricated.” Singer apparently also has an alibi for the dates Michael Egan claims the abuse took place (Hawaii in August and October, 1999), and says he was in Toronto in the midst of pre-production on the first X-Men film. According to TMZ, he will file credit card bills and various other documents proving he was in Toronto during the times in question.

I think it's a little [frick]ed up that this dude just brought this to light all of a sudden and a little coincidental that it's just before Day of Future Past I don't think Bryan Singer is a pedophile, at most he had some underage gay sex with a seventeen year old which is almost an adult.

true or not this is not looking good for singer. I just hope these accusations dont affect the movie in any way. It'll be unfair for the cast and crew involved.

I wonder if Singer can prevent Fox from moving forward with a Age of Apocalypse film without him. Maybe do a Mystique film in the intenm if hat other film gets held up

Whether the accusation is true or not, Hollywood does have a problem with pedophilia. Singer wasn't the first Hollywood figure to be accused of despicable behavior and he won't be the last.

Forcing anybody to do sexual acts is disgusting. Someone very close to me went through this for. Singer to want gay rights he certainly doesn't care about a childs right to a kid. I'm still seeing the movie though. Victor Salva(director of Jeepers Creepers) is also a pedophile so Singer has a buddy.

Mr. Singer is either a rapist and pedophile, or Mr. Egan is falsely accusing Mr. Singer of being a rapist and a pedophile. One of them is a horrible, HORRIBLE person. Whatever happens, nobody wins in this situation. What a sad story.

Yeah, Singer can produce all the alibis in the world, but it doesn't change the fact that he was a grown man, in his mid-thirties, going to orgies with teenagers. It isn't a gay thing either. If a straight director, in the same scenario, went to parties like that with underage girls, his career would be dead too.

Cue conspiracy theorists/Singer defenders who are somehow 100% certain that this is all a complete fabrication just to make some money...and cue the Singer haters who will use homophobic slurs to get their hate across.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty, I believe in incriminating evidence, but I just don't understand how people can be so illogically convinced that Singer either did or didn't do this stuff. How can anyone even come close to saying anything for certain? Why not just sit back and just let whatever happen happen? This has nothing to do with us, so why get so invested?
