Why I believe Darwin isn't dead

My reason for questioning Darwins death...

First off let me say X-Men: First Class was the best X-Men film so far. Vaughn caught the essence of the X-Men closer then Singer and Ratner. Now one thing that pissed me off was that they killed Darwin in his forth scene.

As I watched the movie I kept thinking, maybe Darwin will come back but he didn't and I was mad at that. It's not because Darwin was African-American and it probably seemed racist that he was killed early, but because when Darwin first appeared in X-Men Deadly Genesis I became a huge fan of him. So to kill a mutant who's mutation is to adapt to servive is pretty remedial, in that situation Darwin could have teleported like he did when he was fighting the Hulk or solidified or even absorbed the energy.

Now when I watched First Class a second time I couldn't help but notice that Darwin's explosion was a "bit" abnormal and I can't help but think when he reached out to Havok did he someone combine himself in an energy state to Havok similar to what he did with Garbriel Summers(Vulcan, who is Havoks younger brother)

What else makes me to believe that Darwin could possibly be returning for possible sequels to First Class is that when he separated himself from Vulcan he made a body of pure energy and was discovered by Beast and Professor X, two key players in First Class. Now aside from just being discovered by Professor X and Beast he was found by Moira MacTaggart and taught by Charles, instead he is found by Charles and Erik in First Class and killed by Shaw.

Now Fox and Vaughn could be going a different route with Darwin being linked with Havok instead of Vulcan, and possibly Charles can read Darwins mind in Havok and released him, some more possibilities I have are if Havok were to die Charles felt so guilty he took in Havoks brother or son, I think Fox is making Havok Scotts father and with Havok dying Darwin seperates himself. Or maybe The First Class of X-Men go to Krakoa and thats when Charles assemble a rescue team of Cyclops, Jean, ???. And from there Darwin could be rediscovered

Again this is just a theory, I am just a fan of Darwin who thinks he shouldn't have died, he would be of great use with the X-Men because The Brotherhood has Magneto, Emma Frost, Azazel, Angel, Riptide and Mystique where as the X-Men have Professor X, Banshee, Havok and Beast. I believe that if you are going to introduce a mutant with a power like this you can't kill them that early I mean Toad and Sabertooth were in X-Men longer then he was in First Class and Riptide made it until the end, without a single line though. So I don't believe Darwin isn't dead because of how X-Men First Class is played, it seems like the First Class might just be the team to go to Krakoa and plus Darwin can't die so.

Thumbs up if you want Darwin to return in the sequel(s)

This is pretty interesting. I never thought of it that way, and it seems more logical then just offing him.
Thumbs up!

He better be dead! that was the best thing about him; him dying to give more screen time to xavier and magneto, where the real stories are. i love how they killed him off ruthlessly...gave it more of a realistic feeling to the film...hey, people die....get over it....f uck em...bring on cyclops or jean...THE REAL X-MEN!!!!!!!!!

I see it as, He doesn't die because of racism. He dies because he can take each of the Hellfire Club on after training all by himself! Besides Shaw, can kill him but not after his minions are DESTROYED!!!!!! It would have been too easy to defeat the Club with Darwin. But I would like him to come back.

The way I see it, Darwin can easily come back. Even if you ignore the comic book pre-history which tells us that Darwin survives. Comic books are riddled with examples of heroes and villans who have had their bodies destroyed only to turn up years later as an energy being that somehow survived and returned to continue the good or bad fight as the case may be. (Ex. Wildfire, Swamp Thing)

As to why he had to die, theatrics. Shaw has to be shown to be utterly amoral and ruthless, even towards his own kind (mutants) and honestly, what could Darwin have done against him at that point in his life? Any force used against Shaw is absorbed and used to strengthen or heal.

I have a serious problem with how Magneto killed Shaw at all. Unless they were playing that Shaw needs to consciously activate his power, Magneto shouldn't have been able to kill him just by making the coin move slowly

Very interesting theory and gives me hope that Darwin can come back within the logic of the comics.

@Malachi: Some have to consciously use their powers while others may not need to control it. Case in point Darwin's powers may not hinder his normal day to day life so he need not control it while Prof X, Alex Summers, Scott Summers, and numerous others may need to control it and turn the power on. It also might be that the power manifests itself one the person concentrates hard on it, eg Magneto needs focus to really get his magnetism going. So that scene was not a problem for me.

In the sequel I still would be happy if they make Darwin the butt of the joke and kill him off again but please give us the cameo that he is alright.

I have no problem with Mutants/heroes dying, I just feel that Darwin was too powerful to be killed off so easily.

I think that Darwin from X-Men First Class movie isn't dead because of his powers. In the movie, Sebastian Shaw places a ball of Havok's energy blast into his mouth. The ball of energy is augmented by Sebastian's mutant powers that causes it's power/effects to be amplified. This causes Darwin's mutation to try to rapidly evolve to cope with the energy changes within him as can be seen when his body changes from a metallic like sheen to molten rock-like form and to almost normal with fissure-like cracks. In the end he cannot withstand the energy changes and is seemly vaporized. I think that with his powers, he is probably still alive, possibly in atomic form and has to gradually revolve back into human-form. This, I think could be a great story line that could be used to re-introduce him back into future installments of X-Men First Class movies.
