It looks like we can expect Hawkeye and the Hulk to face off on the big screen in more than just The Avengers, as it has tonight been revealed that former Bruce Banner, Ed Norton, is in talks to play the villain in The Bourne Legacy. Here is an excerpt from the report over at Variety.

Edward Norton is in negotiations to play the baddie in "The Bourne Legacy," Variety's Justin Kroll and Jeff Sneider exclusively report. ony Gilroy will direct from a script he wrote. While plot details are under wraps, it's known that Jason Bourne will not be featured -- Renner will play another assasin trained in the same program.

What do you guys make of this news? There's no doubting that these are two quality actors, and it should be quite something seeing them face off on the big screen! Wonder how awkward it'll be when they start chatting about The Avengers though, eh? Be sure to share your thoughts on all this in the usual place!

With Jeremy Renner apparently signed up to play the lead character, The Bourne Legacy is set to be released on August 3rd, 2012!

Renner and Norton are both great actors and Gilroy great director and writer so this might be a great action film? I hope so!

Only thing they should change so far is the title! If Bourne is not in it dont use his name!

Really weird that fate as lead Jeremy Renner and Edward Norton together lol. I'm surprised I'm not seeing Avenger/Norton picket signs on here yet lol.

I like both of them, but the plot sounds really stupid. They should really rename the movie to something else with the "identity" in the title. I hope Renner doesn't lose his memory in this movie... cause that'd be so gay lol.

EDIT- Elguason is the first of the 'pro Norton movement' comments LOL

Jason Bourne is an identity, Matt Damon's character's real name is David Webb. In the books, the identity of Jason Bourne is what he assumes when he's sent on a mission. This is why the film is continuing as 'the Bourne Legacy' because another agent is given the identity of Jason Bourne to execute a mission.

I'd love to see how they creatively pull this one off.

Marvel should have kept Norton. He was perfect. STUPID MARVEL!

Anyways, I hate that Renner keeps getting popping up in action movies. I hope he doesnt go the Jason Statham route where he keeps doing nothing but action films and they all look the same.

I love Marvel but they dropped the ball on Norton. First Terrence Howard, then Norton, and then Jon Faverau.

@Cable23: I'm glad they got rid of Howard. he was al wrong for Rhodey.

I wish they'd kept Norton.

Primal Fear
The Illusionist
25th Hour
Red Dragon
The Score
The People vs. Larry Flynt

Ruffalo:
Zodiac
Collateral
Shutter Island
Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind

ed norton is a prick.

all these people blaming Marvel need to go back and look at WHY they didn't take him. They TRIED to get him back, even after all the crap he tried to pull on the set of Incredible Hulk, and he just wanted too much. He wants creative control. What actor demands that unless they are actual part of the producers or something? what an asshole.

him having creative control defeats the entire purpose of Marvel Studios starting their own production company. they did it so they could make the movies THEY wanted to, without outside interference. so why on earth would they give an actor creative control?

please...
