WONDER WOMAN Actor Said Taghmaoui Says He Was Cast As BOND 25 Villain But Role Is Now Uncertain

It seems Said Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman, La Haine) was cast at the main villain of James Bond 25 when Danny Boyle was still at the helm, but the actor now says that his role is uncertain. More past the jump.

It looks like Danny Boyle had settled on his lead villain for Bond 25 before departing the project.

During an interview with Abu Dhabi-based newspaper The National, Wonder Woman actor Said Taghmaoui revealed that Boyle had cast him in the role of the unnamed baddie at some point before deciding to step down as director due to "creative differences." However, he has since been told that the producers may go in a different direction.

“I’m supposed to do the next James Bond, playing the lead bad guy. I was cast by Danny Boyle, and just now he left the project, so of course there’s some uncertainty…. We don’t know who the director will be, and the producers don’t know if they’re going to go Russian or Middle East with the baddie right now.

I literally just received a message saying: ‘If they go Middle East, it’s you. If they go Russian, it’s someone else.’ It’s the story of my life. Always on that line between something that could change my life and something that disappears.”

Taghmaoui was originally cast as The Shadow King on season 2 of Legion, which may be what he's referring to here.

Though rare enough, this is a situation that actors do sometimes find themselves in when there's a changing of the guard, so to speak. Taghmaoui would be a fine addition to any cast, so there will be many fans hoping to see him remain on in this role.

What do you guys make of this? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

Well this is confusing now. It was said that Boyle chose Russia as the enemy of this movie, so why would he cast a Middle Eastern man as the main villain?

To be honest this bit made me sad:

I literally just received a message saying: ‘If they go Middle East, it’s you. If they go Russian, it’s someone else.’

Pretty much the same problem his character in Wonder Woman faced, and even that movie didn't do anything with him either.

I like him, but thank goodness Navid Negahban ended up playing Shadow King and not him.
Navid f*cking killed it, best CBTV villain EVER.

I hope they make it work and keep him as the lead villain. Great actor.

also, hope this Bond really knocks it out of the park for Craig's last (I assume?) take on the role. He has been brilliant, and my personal favorite Bond so far. Spectre was disappointing, so hopefully they get it together for this one.

Okay I'll be that guy and say it bring back Christoph Waltz. Yes the brother thing was dumb and I really wish they would have given Raoul Silva's backstory to Blofeld, but Waltz deserves a secound chance to put his own spin on the character.

Great actor. I could see him as a very cool suave role.
