RUMOR: Jeremy Renner Favourite To Take Over Bourne Franchise!

In what they swear is no April Fools Day joke, Latino Review have revealed that the actor who will play Hawkeye in The Avengers, has been approached to topline The Bourne Legacy..

Here are a few excerpts from the report over at Latino Review. You can read the article in its entirety by following the link below, but if the following ends up becoming a reality, it looks like The Hurt Locker star will be very busy for the next few years! Between playing Hawkeye in The Avengers and taking over from Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise, is there anything this guy can't do?

I swear this is not an April Fool's joke!

Was going to report this after midnight but because this news is developing as we speak, time is of the essence.

Tony Gilroy's top choice to topline Bourne Legacy was Oscar Issac, currently starring in Sucker Punch.

Universal didn't approve of Issac for reasons I will highlight in an upcoming editorial.

That being said...

This afternoon, I just found out that the offer to topline The Bourne Legacy is about go out to Jeremy Renner.

Pretty interesting, huh? Be sure to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place!

Depends what the movie is about? Does it continue Bourne´s story or does it tell the story of young Bourne?
I remember hearing from somewhere that this would tell about young Bourne but im not sure?
But i dont really care either cause to me the story ended in the third episode.

he's too old. why replace damon with someone who's the same age?! hahaha he'll be replaced by someone younger, who they can get multiple movies out of.

I think Latino Review pointed out that Universal didn't approve of Oscar Issac due to his race (He is Latin/Hispanic), which may or may not be the case. It's hard to tell and it's kinda sad if it's true.

@AlSimmons the thing is this is not based on a recasting of Matt Damon, if it was ok it's cool Renner got it. they dont look that different thus the audience will buy it...but if it's not a reboot, not a recast, not a continuation of the previous stories..then why not a hispanic, why not a black actor why not a indian actor?

Jeremy Renner is awesome.
One of the best actors around now and days he would be perfect for his role.Only his age would stop him from getting this role.

Good actor but my only petpeeve is that his jaw just looks too small for Hawkeye

Give me a f**king break! This guy doesn't have the talent, or the star power to take over Bourne. I could swear I read somewhere that he was going to take over Mission Impossible also. I know cause his movies grossed more than Tom Cruise, or Matt Damons, what a f**king joke!

ASSASS666 is the same guy who said this about Chris Hemsworth:

"I think it's pretty sad that I could lift this guy and throw him around. He's too f**king small, he's supposed to be Thor. I can see they are going to have to have a suit with muscles sown in to it. Was it so hard to find an unknown 6-8 actor who can act and look like he can't walk though a door? This guy needs a miracle in the I need muscle department."

Clearly has a warped view on available talent and the reality of making movies.

well... get ready for hawkeye to be re-cast for avengers 2. if he get's this he'll be so big and have such a hefty payday they won't be able to afford him for a hawkeye solo movie.

Anyone but Matt Damon will blow.

@pitchblack Hemsworth has yet to prove himself.

Lets just remember that The Bourne films presents a different character from the original novels and that Robert Ludlum only wrote three books which are similar only in title to the movies and nothing else. The character in the books is way older than the young version they had Matt Damon portray so if they're continuing with the other books that are written by other authors then they can do whatever they want with the casting which includes turning him black or hispanic!

Jason Bourne is simply an assumed identity and thus can be used by anyone. In the books, he is David Web and only assumes the identity of Jason Bourne when he is sent on missions by the government.

@TorturedXGenius maybe he isn't latin in the movies because his birth name is David Webb...wow sounds real latin doesn't it. -_-

What is it with people wanting to change a characters race or gender?! Get a clue, it already works, why try to fix something that isn't broken? Movies aren't about giving an ethnic group a self esteem boost, it's about telling a story and entertainment. You want a Latino hero? Then pull out the pencil and paper and make one. Stop trying to screw with Wilson Fisk and turn him black.

@ralphmouth - i didn't say he had to be Hispanic you stereotyping F uCK! i'm not even mexican so typical for ppl to assume all Hispanics are, and are quick to 'go eat a burrito/back to your country' bull$h!t. i clearly also said why not let him be black or Indian etc etc. Screw off you.

@Sortis - he could be black David Webb, also it's a codename, i can have my name be John Smith, David Issacs, Jon Grayson, etc etc. my gripe is that the director wanted Oscar but the studio didn't want a Hispanic lead. why is that? frankly i dont care if it was someone else who WASN'T Hispanic, it's crazy that these execs think the 'minority' cant open or lead these films. it's a new story and a new film not a continuation of the old ones so why..smh

pitchblack - Oh you're a clever c*nt aren't you? I feel sorry that you're too stupid to open a Thor comic and see how he is drawn and know that Hemsworth is nothing like that. That is my only problem with him, if Hemsworth seems big to you then you must be on the small side. I'm a product of the gym so I think I know more on this subject than most.

How characters are draw in comics is hardly reference for delivering a live action feature. Tod McFarlane drew the worse anatomy on a character and mosty faces that were caricatures! Every female that Michael Turner drew looked exactly the same with perspective twisted mid-sections, Rob Lefield couldn't draw wrists and Jim Lee can't help but give everyone the same insane size of muscles that would physically render them unable to do anything except pose for a living!

Thor is meant to be physically larger no doubt but the size Chris Hemsworth is at is suitble for a live action that need to "realize" things that are notably over the top from the source material and won't work on film. It's clear that you as a typical fan only see the comic, the fact that you can't frame shots decent shots to visually narrate the movie if the star is way to big to fit into the frame with his co stars or interact with basic everyday props. You'd end up with an unintentional comedy flick!

Oh yeah, he's drawn like a regular behemoth in this one. The fact is, it's a movie, not a direct god damn translation of a comic book. If you think you'll ever see something like what you are crying for without CGI (which would look absolutely ridiculous anyway,) you are out of your mind.
