THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS Concept Art Better Explains How Neo And Trinity Were Raised From The Dead THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS Concept Art Better Explains How Neo And Trinity Were Raised From The Dead

Some newly revealed concept art from The Matrix Resurrections shows exactly how The Analyst managed to raise Neo and Trinity from the dead following their deaths in 2003's The Matrix Revolutions...

In the closing moments of 2003's The Matrix Revolutions, both Neo and Trinity died during the epic final battle in Zion. Needless to say, we all wondered how they had been brought back to life in The Matrix Resurrections, and that movie would ultimately reveal that The Analyst had found a way to repair their bodies.

After essentially rebuilding them, he created a new Matrix where he could manipulate them and humanity as he saw fit. They eventually break free, of course, but a closer look at their resurrection has now been shared by concept artist Emmanuel Shiu (via SFFGazette.com).

As you can see below, Neo and Trinity's bodies were pieced together by sentinels, something we didn't actually get to see in the movie itself. While the scenes below would have added a lot to The Matrix Resurrections, the return of both characters still worked...in fact, it was probably one of the few elements of the disappointing sequel that did!

"A wholly unnecessary epilogue to The Matrix trilogy, Resurrections retreads old ground, delivers mediocre action, and proves itself a tough pill to swallow despite a decent enough love story that, alone, isn't enough to justify revisiting this franchise," we said in our review last December, adding: "Time for a reboot."

There were plenty of fans who did enjoy this movie, of course, but with underwhelming box office numbers, there's been no word on another chapter in this story heading our way in the near future.

I'm not well versed on matrix lore so excuse my ignorance but why would the sentinels piece their body's back together?

Could have just been Clones. Clone Morpheus, Clone Trinity, Clone Neo, Morpheus is the youngest because he died the latest in the timeline. The Matrix reset itself to harness power of Neo and expand itself.

I liked this one. Not perfect, but decent. I'd rank it

1. The Matrix
2. Reloaded
3. Resurrection
4. Revolutions

Yeah, machines being able to resurrect people was just...DUMB.
I get how sad the director was because she lost her parents, and this made her feel better, but, again, it was dumb.

The moment you introduce a way to resurrect people in a movie, all tension is lost.

@TheHumanSpider2 - Pretty much. Star Wars has been doing it for decades now, and it does cheapen things a bit imo. And now that time travel exists in the MCU and countless numbers of people have been brought back from the dead, can there REALLY be any tension or stakes going forward?

To me the first Matrix movie was a combination of good choreography and groundbreaking film techniques with enough plot to justify the weird physics. The fact that they have gotten so far away from what made the first one good is mind-boggling. I’m sure there were people leaving the first movie wanted to know more of the back story, but it was a hit because of how awesome the action was.

When you have to refer to the CONCEPT ART for a better explanation of what happened in a movie, that might be an example of terrible storytelling.

This is like modern Star Wars where you have to refer to an E.U. book or a comic book for the backstory of a minor character or even a piece technology. Lazy, dumb, poor writing.

@Feralwookiee - We also all know the studio behind this movie - WB. I wouldn't put it past them to have asked for a shorter movie or asked they cut out stuff. I mean the movie even mocks Warner Bros directly and how they more or less forced Lana to make a 4th movie.

@ThorArms - There were probably worse movies in 2021, however, none of them had a $180M budget, or the legacy THE MATRIX franchise had, so taking that into account, yeah, it was the worst.

@UniqNo - definitely did not. Probably will not. That one just looked awful, I believe you

Matrix 4 biggest disappointment

What a terrible, disappointing film. Made Reloaded and Revolution look great in comparison.

The majority of long-awaited sequels have disappointed, but this movie was one of the worst.
