Explains Vietti, “I’ve been reading a lot of stuff on the forums and the fans are dying to see more of Robin and Artemis in particular, and this is definitely the episode for them. It’s all about those two stuck together in a really tight spot and how they work through a pretty heavy situation. I think it will be a fan-pleaser for sure.”
“I think it’s a pretty intense and exciting episode with our two heroes who don’t have actual superpowers,” adds Weisman, who also takes on the notion that the show is seeming to focus on pairs of characters at a time in what appears to be an attempt to explore them further. “It certainly gives us the opportunity to explore the character dynamics in greater depth. I don’t want to say it’s a plan or a trend per se, but when we have as large a cast as we have, even among our six or so regulars, we always look for opportunities to be able to explore one or two at a time and give them if not solo episodes, at least episodes where they can shine in that sense.
“We also try to have a nice mix of big team show stories and, I don’t want to call them small, but at least what they’re facing isn’t quite as necessary for the big all-in, everybody’s there kind of thing,” he continues. “From episodes three to eight we spent some time literally giving each of the characters some individual focus and on team missions, but here we’re being less regular about it and mixing it up more. Sometimes it will be one, sometimes two, sometimes more than that. But we also don’t want to feel obligated to bring every single character along on every single mission. First of all, that feels almost as artificial as leaving someone out; two, it becomes awkward from a story telling standpoint. This just allows us to focus here or there on an individual or a couple of characters from time to time.
Points out Vietti, “It would be boring if we didn’t mix it up and go from an episode with all of the team in to another one with a couple of members only. We try to change up the pattern of how we use the characters just to keep it interesting for the audience. It provides a little more insight into each of the characters as they play off of each other during the course of the story."
