Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently in theaters, and thanks to an interview with members of the cast and crew, we have some new details on the casting process for the character Ghost.

This process saw Marvel Studios widen their search to actors of all ethnicities, something that doesn't happen too often with roles based on established characters from the comics.

“It was more about, if we’re going to reinvent this character from the ground up from what it was in the books, we should be open to all sorts of people,” Marvel Producer Stephen Broussard explained. “We just wanted to be surprised with a great actress.”

As we now know, this search would ultimately lead to actress Hannah John-Kamen, whose biggest credits at the time were the Syfy show Killjoys and the yet to be released Ready Player One. And director Peyton Reed has now discussed what it was like when she auditioned for the role of Ghost.

“When she read [for the role] she was really tough and physical, but she also played the vulnerability of that character. We liked the idea of presenting an antagonist who has these powers, which are potentially dangerous and lethal, but they’re an affliction for her more than they are a power.”

Still, while her audition was the factor that landed her the spot as the villain in the Marvel film, John-Kamen did get something most actors would probably love to have – a letter of recommendation from the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

“It said, ‘Dear Peyton,’ ” the Ant-Man and the Wasp director explained. “ 'I’m excited you’re doing the movie and I just want to put in the good word for Hannah. I worked with her and she was terrific. Signed, Steven Spielberg.’”

In all, it sounds like the star had a lot going for her, with a killer audition and a good word from a film icon. Who knows, perhaps all of this improves the odds of John-Kamen starring in that Thunderbolts movie she wants.

She was great. Gorgeous.

Also, LMFAO... Why would he want her in a western?

Thought Spielberg didn't like Marvel Movies, surprised he cared.

@TheGingerGeek - it’s called being a professional and a gentleman. Why would he begrudge an up and coming actor just because he may not like Marvel movies?!

@TheGingerGeek - I think it's more of a nice little courtesy thing for the actress rather than the film. He wants to see Hannah go places.

The actress that's the lead in Bumblebee, I thought that was the chick on Ready Player One lol.

The amount of power Spielberg has in Hollywood and all the careers he has made for people on the film industry is pretty astonishing. When Spielberg speaks people listen.

@Kyos - I remember reading that she played Selma (a minor role) in Fifteen Million Merits and they liked her so much that they brought her back with a bigger role.

@Ha1frican

I don’t remember Letitia Wright in that movie and I treally enjoyed RP1.

MVP of that movie was TJ Miller imo.

Spoilers for Antman and the Wasp, do not continue reading if you don't want to be spoiled:

So since I'm seeing a lot of people hating the post credit scene, I'm going to explain why I liked it.

1. It worked as a parallel to the mid credit scene. It started off serious and ended on humor. The mid credit scene started with humor and ended seriously. It was short while the mid credit scene was long... And many other little details.
2. It was a reminder that even though the film have ridiculous stuff like an ant programed to play drums(guitar hero/rock band drums) it's still part of the MCU which currently have half it's the universe dusted.
3. It also showed the progression from Infinity War to Antman and the Wasp. Showing the serious repercussion of Infinity War pan to the fun campiness of Antman and the Wasp.

I have no clue if any of it was intentional but if so, it was incredibly smart.
