Adrien Brody On Ant-Man & Fantastic Four Rumors

While chatting to The Playlist, Brody addresses the rumors from a while back that he might be playing Ant Man in Edgar Wrights adaptation of the diminutive Marvel character, but also doesn't rule out playing a super hero in the future..

Some time ago Brody was said to have taken meetings with both Fox and Marvel in relation to parts in their upcominf CBMs. This was never confirmed, although rumors emerged that Fox were persuing him for a role in their Fantastic Four reboot as Mr Fantastic, and Marvel for him to play Ant-Man. These rumors seemed to just die away as so many of them do, but Brody himself did seem to be interested in interviews.

Well, now The Playlist ask him about it again. And his reply suggest that he may have been considering one or both or the roles but things didn't work out..

You’ve been rumored for roles in the to-be rebooted ‘Fantastic Four” film and “Ant-Man.” Do you have any interest in pursuing a role in a super hero film?

I have interest in pursuing creatively stimulating material and I can’t limit it or eliminate a choice based on a genre or type of thing. Nothing has quite come together that just made sense entirely. But if that day happened I wouldn’t be opposed to it.

He also speaks about action orientated parts and what drew him to his against type role in the recent Predators..

I mean I feel like “Predators” is a good example of that. I’m a relatively sensitive human being and I’m drawn to characters that have a certain degree of sensitivity and it’s fun to play a character at times who lacks that sensitivity and is more primal. It was an interesting process because obviously I wouldn’t be the first choice for that. It was very rewarding for everybody involved because they believed in me and I brought them something that I felt was lacking in certain depictions of a strong leading man in an action genre. I felt like a lot of times it wasn’t really strong enough on an internal level. You know I think the depiction of strength does not have to purely be on physical brawn and I think audiences are intelligent enough to understand that.There has to be a degree of physical endurance and competence that exists within the character but you know, what truly makes a military leader effective is the mind and the ability to kind of act with a tactical savvy that is believable. And those are things that I tried to cultivate and explore. I did a physical transformation but that wasn’t the most important thing for me, it wasn’t what drew me to the character.

It sounds as if he is open to a CBM role if he had the right script. If not Pym or Richards, which character do you think the talented Brody would be a good fit for?

He'd definitely make a good Mr. Fantastic.
Like Lee said, Brody is totally not Ant-Man.

I can't see him as a Marvel Superhero. Maybe he should try and go for a villain role instead.

If not Antman or Hank, why not Deadman from DC?

He's a very good actor, and he's shown surprising versatility. He'd be good for almost any of the science-y comic characters, but I could maybe see him as Strange or a villain too.

@LEEE777

Taking into account that Dr. Pym is mentioned in thor, i think is more than possible we see his fisical impersonation in the avengers or more likely in captain america.

Definitely not Hank Pym. I'm not very familiar with Scott Lang, so I can't really comment, but I don't see him as Reed Richards either.

Brody simply doesn't have the charisma, credibility, or presence for either character...Look no further than "Splice," "Predators", and "King Kong" for proof. I just can't take him seriously and feel he's fast on his way to becoming another Nicholas Cage.

I like him as an Actor, loved the Brothers Bloom, where he acted with the soon to be Bruce Banner. I would like to see him play Doc. Strange, pass on the Mr Fantastic or Ant man.
