Clifton Collins Jr. Has Apparently Joined ANT-MAN Cast

The casting for this one really looks to be heating up. It seems that in addition to Michael Pena, Pacific Rim actor Clifton Collins Jr. has also signed on to star in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man flick. Read on for more.

In their story on yesterday's Michael Pena casting, The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that Marvel were also looking at the likes of Javier Bardem and Clifton Collins Jr. to fill their "tough Latino" quota for Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. Well now, according to Latino Review's new trigger man, the latter has actually been cast alongside Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas - you'll note this infers that Pena hasn't actually signed on yet.

Obviously as sure as this young fella seems to be, until it's official it's ...not official, so take it as you will. But Collins is a fine actor and would be a great addition to any cast so I for one hope that it is true. Who might he be playing? Well we got some pretty odd sounding information on Pena's villainous character last night, so perhaps Collins is allied with him? Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Question-he is 43

anyway , if this is legit and he has signed on in the michael pena role, i would buy him more as an evil dictator in the 60s which was the villain for hank pym in the 60s then michael pena, pena is a great actor but he just seems to soft and not hard edged enough o i buy this more if it is legit

We still get to see Hank Pym as Ant-Man in his prime in the 60's fighting communists. He's still the very first Ant-Man until Scott Lang takes over the mantle. Funny enough, I've recently started reading the Ant-Man comics. We'll see how special Hank really is as a character.

@ Batmaniac and Soto

I am sure Marvelites will rave about all casting choices not matter who it is. Heck if they casted Gal for Gamora they would be running in the streets rejoicing.

"Does it make sense for a biochemist to create a robot? I don't think so. Like you just said if you are a fan of who he is and not because of his skin color, then just cause he was cast as an old man doesn't mean the character has been ruined at all, cause like color is just a color, age is just an age."

I hate to agree with you here but you may have a point. The matter of fact is Hank is being introduced in the film as young and the first Ant-Man fighting communists I presume. Then they will time jump to the present day where he's retired and have Scott's story. Hank will still be Ant-Man in the film, his age is not much of an issue with me. It doesn't destroy or butcher the character because he'll still be a genius. Whether he interacts with The Avengers, that will remain to be seen.

The more I think about it, the more it's a mistake ot make Pym such a dottering oldster--if only because they need another superbrain in the field with the team. Seems like a gross misstep by Marvel.

there are certain limitations in a 2hr plus movie, if hank pym(younger) was introduced in Age of Ultron and he also built Ultron in the film and then he had this journey in the movie of dealing with creating this sentinent being, thats alot in a 2hr movie plus we have to focus on the other characters that the audience is familiar with and invested in, so having hank pym who is going to be introduced in the movie and the audience has no investment in right now, then he creates the villain of the film and he has a conflict with that, we as comic fans maybe invested but the GA will be like" who the hell is this guy, why should we care, this guy just showed up and we hav e to care about while we know little to nothing about him " so i can understand that and edgar wright just had an idea to make this kind of a legacy movie

I just read a report, from a not so credible source, that Hank Pym is the bad guy in Antman. True? Anyone?

We are still gonna get an Ant-man vs Ant-Man battle in the film and guess who will be the other Ant-man other than Scott? That's right Hank Pym We don't know for sure if hank appears in future Avengers or not. Hank can still pop up in the Avengers if it needs be. This is the MCU not the comics guys. We're still gonna see Hank suit up in the 60's and in the present too. There won't be any limitations to what he can do if he will be fighting Scott in an Ant-Man suit, he's still a genius level intellect regardless of age. I understand the dissapointment but I'm willing to wait and see how all this plays out. Remember, we know Hank and Scott will still teamup in the movie.

I agree that Lang's story is far more compelling and makes for better movie material than Pym's story.

My problem is more to do with Janet's involvement.
She's one of my favourite female characters and I was hoping she'd be the female lead.

I have an eerie suspicion they're going to make Janet either a trophy wife who falls for Lang make Janet Hanks daughter and both wouldn't be good.

Mrblackjack-i was fine with rudd being pym, but imo this is more interesting to me personally, i am not a fan of any ant man at all,i do find hank pym to be interesting but im by no means a fan, i just find it to more interesting personally

@McNya

I tired to tell them that last night, but, some people are hell bent on being disappointed even if you disprove all their speculation. I wouldn't even waste my time. If he doesn't like it, he's a big boy. What I don't agree with is trying to knock those people cool with the casting because you feel like you're Hank Pym's #1 fan. That's petty, @Antmaniac, and, you're better than that.

I'm curious who will be 1960s Pym. I'm interested in this approach because I like a little more history added to the MCU between WW2 & now

The day a CBM is EXACTLY the same as the comic book source material will probably never come. The closest attempts I can think of are Watchmen and maybe Sin City. And those vary from the originals. The map is not the territory. A movie or play is not the script. And a movie WILL NOT be the novel or comic book it's based on. It just will not.
