Patrick Wilson And A Number Of Other Actors Depart Marvel's ANT-MAN
The fallout of writer and director Edgar Wright's Ant-Man departure is still being felt as Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) has been forced to leave the project due to scheduling issues. Two more actors have also been written out, and you can get details on that right here!
We don't entirely know what to expect from Marvel's panel at Comic-Con tomorrow, but we do know three men who won't be there when the Ant-Man cast assembles on stage. Deadline reports that Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerard and Kevin Weisman will no longer appear in the movie, and though there's speculation that this is due to Edgar Wright's departure, Marvel insiders "adamantly dispute that". Instead, the site says that the characters played by Gerard (who appeared in the All Hail the King One-Shot) and Weisman (who I don't even remember being cast in the movie) were simply omitted in the new version of the script from Adam McKay. Wilson meanwhile has dropped out due to a scheduling conflict caused by the fact that production was delayed after Wright left and Yes Man's Peyton Reed took over. This is obviously very disappointing news, but far from the end of the world. After all, is there not a better role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Wilson than Crossfire? Oh, and Evangeline Lilly? She's totally playing The Wasp in this thing...
