That's A Wrap! Peyton Reed Announces End Of ANT-MAN Filming And Says To "Stay Tuned"

After a rocky start which saw director Edgar Wright leave the project he had been attached to since 2006, Ant-Man has now concluded principal photography as you can see from the Tweets below. It surely can't be too long until we get some images from the movie or possible even a teaser trailer (if that happens, you have to imagine it will be with the Super Bowl first and then with Avengers: Age of Ultron). Regardless, there's also a very intriguing hint belo about the role that The Dark Knight's David Dastmalchian will have in the movie. Who do you guys think he's playing?

It probably won't be with the Super Bowl for the exact same reason they had a super bowl ad for Captain America 2 but not Guardians. They know there's way more anticipation right now for Avengers 2 and poor Ant-Man would just get completely drowned out in the ensuing hype.

They're gonna wait until we're much closer to the release date to start doing a serious marketing push, just like they did for GOTG.

Marvel must be trying to keep a competitive edge if every time DC/WB announces a casting, or wrapping a film Marvel has to do the same that day or week.

I just don't want another Guardians of the Galaxy. If it wasn't for Chris Pratt, all the dialogue and forced banter would've been painful to listen to. I hope this production teams knows what they're doing, which I can see that they just might, and that I can enjoy a hard and fun heist movie with a dude that can shrink to the size of a mother[frick]ing ant.

Maybe he's Taskmaster, since he's becoming an Ant-Man villain in the new Ant-Man comic run.

"It's been filming for nearly 4 months - that's twice as much time as the average action film takes."

And Batman v Superman has been filming since April, and it only just wrapped up too. And it's not releasing until 2016. Holy crap, that movie has gotta end up being around 3.5 hours long, right?

@JoJo1982

That's because both movies had an equal amount of hype. Winter Soldier came in with a shit ton of hype and love thanks to the Avengers, while nobody, not even Marvel, thought GOTG was gonna be as huge as it ended up being.

19 months from wrap to release. Add up, it does not. hahaha

There has to be something going on, right??

@ImKennyPowers

Theyve shot for almost 7 months. Once thats done they have to do post. Post production is a lot and especially for a film of this size. Also its all about the right time to release it and alligning with their overall plan with only 5 months spearating it from Suicide Squad.

@ImKennyPowers Haha let's just hope it's just a case of a movie having so much epicness stuffed into it, that they have to take as much time as possible to make sure it's nailed down perfectly so it blows everyone away to the moon and back. At least, that's the version I'm going with in my head haha.

@Tars

Having lived in SEC country for past decade, I've learned a whole new meaning to the term "die-hard fans."

However, I've seen firsthand those same die-hard fans and die-hard fans of their HEATED rivals be able to put their differences aside and be cordial with one another. Hell, even live together. They usually don't watch their teams play each other, but they can and are civil. I know, I've seen them do!!

You haven't heard shit talking until you've been around UT fans and Alabama fans leading up to the Third Saturday in October. Or Bama/Auburn fans. Or Kentucky fans during bball season. Unless their teams are playing each other, they can and do get along.

BUT it's not hate!! The hate on this site towards DC and Marvel from certain folks is unfathomable.

Post production entails ADR, editing, scoring, sound editing, visual effects, color correction. So they have ample time to put everything together and they want to make sure its right too

This movie is going to kick so much ass! 2015 is gonna rock. Then 2016 with Civil War and Doctor Strange, holy shit! [frick] bvs, wont even break a billion, guaranteed. Marvel or gtfo!

I really think they will show both at the Super Bowl this year!!!
It's not like Avengers is the only hype movie that's coming out next year, especially since Antman and Age of Ultron have a lot to do with each other.

imkennypowers - 12/5/2014, 6:35 PM
@FordEl

True, I didn't think about aligning it with the release of other films. I was more thinking about how Age of Ultron is 9 months from wrap to release, not accounting for reshoots. While BvS is 19 months wrap to release. That's why I wondered if there's something super secret in the works or they need that time for post-production.

@SauronsBane

Yeah hopefully it's time well spent and not to time spent rethinking, second guessing and tinkering, ya know?? I personally, work and perform better under pressure of shorter time. The more time I have on projects I tend to do any/all of the things I mentioned. I try to make things "too perfect" which can be a disservice to the project because I'm awesome and I do great work, but with extra time I tinker to improve what didn't need it. If that makes sense.

"Marvel must be trying to keep a competitive edge if every time DC/WB announces a casting, or wrapping a film Marvel has to do the same that day or week."

It's the norm for movies like this to post when they're done with principal photography. And I'm pretty sure Marvel didn't begin shooting the movie just the outdo DC in an announcement 4 months in advance. Lol.
