AQUAMAN Director James Wan Set To Produce A Big-Screen Adaptation Of Stephen King's THE TOMMYKNOCKERS
According to a new report, Aquaman and The Conjuring director James Wan will team with It producer Roy Lee for a new big-screen adaptation of one of Stephen King's biggest novels, The Tommyknockers...
Following the massive success of It, another of Stephen King's best-selling novels is getting the big screen treatment: The Tommyknockers.
THR reports that James Wan, the director and producer behind Aquaman and The Conjuring movies, and Roy Lee, one of the producers of It, are teaming-up for a new adaptation of the iconic writer’s 1987 science-fiction-horror book.
The pair will produce the project, which tells the story of a town in Maine which "falls under the influence of a dangerous gas from an unearthed space craft."
There was a 1993 TV miniseries of The Tommyknockers which was produced by the man who currently holds the rights, Larry Sanitsky. Here's what he had to say about this new take:
“It is an allegorical tale of addiction (Stephen was struggling with his own at the time), the threat of nuclear power, the danger of mass hysteria and the absurdity of technical evolution run amuck. All are as relevant today as the day the novel was written. It is also a tale about the eternal power of love and the grace of redemption.”
