Rumors relating to Amber Heard being fired or replaced as Mera in James Wan's upcoming Aquaman sequel have been doing the rounds ever since the actress became embroiled in a messy legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp, but a new rumor gained quite a bit of traction online today, and many seemed to believe that Warner Bros. had indeed decided to remove her from the film.
Heard confirmed that she'd signed on to reprise her role last year, but it has since come to light that she lied about certain aspects of the case against Depp - and about donating her settlement to charity - and many feel she should be held equally (or at least partially) accountable since the accusations cost the actor his part in Fantastic Beasts 3.
Regardless, this latest rumor appears to be nothing more than wishful thinking on the part of a rather shady individual, and THR's Ryan Parker has managed to debunk the report.
As sketchy as this rumor always seemed to be, it's worth noting that the petition to remove Heard from Aquaman 2 is now up around the 2 million signature mark, and if the studio execs do come to believe they have more to lose than gain by keeping her on board, they could decide to take action.
How do you guys feel about this whole situation? Would you like to see Heard stay on as Mera, or would you rather another actress was cast?
