Charles Roven On Hiring James Wan For AQUAMAN And Where The Script Currently Is

When James Wan made the jump from horror movies to blockbuster filmmaking with Furious 7, he ended up delivering one of the highest grossing releases of all-time. It's no wonder then that Warner Bros. are confident in his ability to deliver with Aquaman then, and producer Charles Roven had this to say in an interview with Collider about why they decided to choose him. "That’s a perfect example—him and [David] Ayer, and Patty [Jenkins], they’re perfect examples of what I’m talking about, to bring people in. Fertile creative minds who can say, ‘Okay, we get the road map, now let’s talk about doing this or doing that.’ It’s fun to have that flexibility and yet commonality." However, with Wan hard at work on The Conjuring 2, could that delay Aquaman?
"We’re very early days," Roven said in regards to the current state of the screenplay. "We’re just starting with the screenplay. He’s makingThe Conjuring 2 now, so he’s had his hand in the creation of let’s just call it a working document from which to write. But he’s directing that film [and] he’s got his hand ever so slightly in the development, but he’s really gonna throw himself into it after he finishes shooting Conjuring 2. And we’re planning on it being his film after Conjuring 2. He is a serious Aquaman fan." Aquaman is still well over two and a half years away, so chances are that we won't be getting any firm updates for a while, but this is sounding good...
