Comics: Geoff Johns Set To Breathe New Life Into Aquaman

Johns has announced via Twitter that he intends to relaunch the decidedly fan polarizing DC Superhero with his own title in Aquaman #1. Click for the details..

Aquaman has always been a bit of a love him or loathe him type character in the DC universe. With many writers taking a stab at brining some credibility to The King Of Atlantis over the years, Geoff Johns succeeding in at least making people take notice after the events of Blackest Night, and leading into (the currently running) Brightest Day.



Now Johns looks to continue his good work by taking writing duties on Aquaman's brand new title..

"After BRIGHTEST DAY I'll be moving over to a new book - AQUAMAN #1 coming later this year!! :)"


No confirmation on when exactly this will be with us, or if it will be a mini series or an ongoing title. Updates as we have em.

You gotta love Aquaman,just for how much everyone makes fun of him. He really is just the friendlier version of Namor. Just look at that picuture - a giant grin on his face, with a rainbow of fish behind him.

Looking forward to it. Johns did a great job on Green Lantern, Superman and The Flash, so I have faith in him. :)

aquaman should be treated the same way as the flash,green lantern,superman & batman.

he should be one of the legends,but his treated like a poor man's namor.

Geoff Johns is going to make this character AMAZING for me! [frick]! I hate it that i like Johns so much! He's a kick ass writer, i just hope he doesn't burn himself out! Oh and where the [frick] is Batman: Earth One? I've been waiting since Superman: Earth One(which was god-like)

It's really really hard to write stories for underwater hero types. Basically no one cares what happens under the sea, it's got to be in your face before it matters. I liked the current story in Brightest Day alot. It worked. I hope G.J. can mix him up with some other villians especially Brainic! but some Killer Frost or Brimstone bouts and Zatanna crossovers would be cool. I hope he has a mean streak too.

When news that The Flash would end I was sure it was a stunt for Flashpoint the series would continue under another name written by Johns and maybe a new artist.

Now that he just announced this Aquaman series I am nervous that he might not continue Flash for Aquaman.

I am all for this, and hope it's a monthly.
I also hope the series puts an end to the childish jokes (as per the pictures above), however I know it won't.
