It's well known that Atlanteans will play an important role in Zack Snyder's Justice League, and it's safe to assume that Aquaman director James Wan will have a hand in shaping Atlantis for the film. The Aquaman cast is already coming together with Jason Momoa as the titular hero, Amber Heard as Queen Mera, and Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and according to Wan, fans will get a brief taste of what the King of Atlantis' standalone film will be like in Justice League.
"I think Amber and Jason Momoa, in their moments in Justice League, [are] going to give the rest of the world a flavor of what their own standalone movie could be," said Wan. "And that is just scratching the surface of what I plan to do."
When asked about the tone of the 2018 film, Wan went on to reveal that Aquaman would be heading on a high seas adventure that takes inspiration from some classic films. "I kind of don't want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I'm going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story," revealed Wan. "It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone."
What do you think? Do you like the idea of Aquaman going on a swashbuckling action adventure akin to Raiders of the Lost Ark?
