Are Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver going to be Inhumans in the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Are Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver going to be Inhumans in the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Nothing official here, this is just my own little theory, but hear me out! It all has to do with Marvel's recently released teaser images for the new Inhumans comics series. Click on for my thoughts..

By nibs - Sep 06, 2013 11:09 AM EST

How do we know they're Inhumans? Well, there are a couple of puzzle pieces to figuring this out, but it is not a stretch of the imagination, in fact, I'd bet on it.

Marvel has released it's teaser images for the new Inhuman comics series:

And apparently the comic storyline is about mad people being exposed to whatever it is that creates Inhumans (I'm not an Inhuman expert). So it looks like Inhumans are the new mutants in the Marvel comic world.

So why use Inhumans instead of Mutants? Why have readers familiarize themselves with Inhumans instead of Mutants when judging by these posters, the premise looks pretty similar?

1) We know that Inhumans is a movie franchise that Marvel wants to work on.

2) So far in the MCU, anyone with powers is a god (Thor) or is connected to the Super Solider Serum (Cap, Hulk, Red Skull). Marvel knows they can't keep milking that cow.

3) They are NOT allowed to reference mutants in the MCU

So how can they explain where these people with powers keep coming from? Including SW and QS?

The answer is that SW and QS, and many future Marvel movies characters, will be Inhuman. This will also disconnect SW & QS from Magneto as their father which must be done. On top of that, this will lead into an Inhumans movie and set up an Inhumans universe quite nicely, as well as many other franchises (The Wasp in Ant-Man, etc.)

Thanks for reading! Feel free to talk shit about me in the usual place.

@nibs It's called "Terrigan Mists". Interesting theory, but it's pure speculation at this point, not "All but confirmed". Wouldn't be the worst way to get around the rights issue, though.

I think that's the most logical way to go, but hmmm, we'll see.

Ive been saying that for a while now. I think it makes
The most sense. They dont have to be mutants.
Inhumans works just as well.

I think it will be made vague.

Since they most have been in Inhuman and Avengers stories, I could easily see this happening.

Although I hope they just don't bring up their father and keep Magneto as their father. Who knows they could have a Inhuman mother or something right?

Who says Magda Eisenhardt might have been Inhuman? So who knows... perhaps they took more after their Mother than their Father.

Find a way to have them join the team but have mystery. That way if they ever have the ability to use mutants then they can explain it... They should just make a deal to have the universes together. Just because they are in the same universe doesn't mean they have to fight together every time.

Dumegg - 9/6/2013, 1:14 PM
You cant put two characters in a movie and leave
Them a mystery. They need to be explained. Marvel
Isnt allowed to use the word mutant so them being
Inhumans is the best way.

I bet the origin will be vague in AVENGERS 2, and then Marvel will introduce the Inhumans somewhere down the line, and the GA will just put two and two together.

Marvel also de-powered 99% of all mutants not too long ago, so that the only ones left seem to be "our gang" of known X-Men and various others they've found around the world.

Was this Marvel's sneaky way of reducing the scope of a comic franchise whose movie rights they don't own, in favor of promoting another, similar group of powered heroes they *can* exploit?

Nice theory, even if it doesn't come true. Top marks for thinking cap usage. Better than whatever bs they're going to concoct to explain away their powers.

I don't know it just doesn't seem right to make them inhumans. Not because It can't work, but then what happens if they ever get the X-men back? Oh yeah sorry you guys aren't magnetos kids... Idk I wish they would just strike a deal of some kind to use them as mutants but just say these are the only ones we can find. Then let the X-men be in their universe and the avengers in their own.

Seems like the logical way to go. Although I still say just hint at their origins being "complicated" as a nod to the fans with wats going on wit the rights
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 9/6/2013, 1:45 PM
OR they could just introduce them via Agents of Shield and only reference mutants, Magneto and maybe even the X-Men on that show, which they are allowed to do.
Would that be so hard?

I'm gonna have to agree and here's a bunch to help your theory.

Quicksilver's wife and kid (Crystal and Luna) are Inhumans also.

Also, in Giant Sized Avengers #1 the Scarlet Witch talks with the Whizzer, who mentions that in his travels, he wound up at the High Evolutionary's Wundergore mountain, where he and his wife Miss America had more kids. Miss America was a member of the Invaders with Captain America and The Human Torch.

Human Torch was in Capt America at thye Stark Expo

The Scarlet Witch concludes that those two children must have been herself and Quicksilver. The logical and literary reasons for making this revelations seem remarkably weak, based on the fact that the Whizzer and Quicksilver have the same powers and that Miss Marvel and the Scarlet Witch sort of look alike.

The Inhuman Phaeder, father of Maelstrom handed college student Herbert Edgar Wyndham papers containing a blueprint for breaking the genetic code.

Here's the thing. they don't need to give them introduction at all. What they are will most likelly not be important, but who they are
wookiefit
wookiefit - 9/6/2013, 1:49 PM
Also, Adam Warlock who might show up in GotG found the High Evolutionary hoping to get help against Ultron.

Woah good points! I hope you're right and they don't make up some BS variation of mutants.

Although I wish they'd just say nothing because WE know who QS and SW are, the general audience might want some kind of explanation.

There's an Idea. Since they seem to be hero hunting in the Agents of Shield show. why not hunt down the two, explain the origins in 2 minutes. ask them to join SHIELD. Then in teh avengers two just say agents Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Then after that join the Avengers with little explination needed! WAM!!!!
wookiefit
wookiefit - 9/6/2013, 2:20 PM
Forgot to add this point: Herbert Edgar Wyndham becomes the High Evolutionary. So it makes sense that in the maybe the High Evolutionary breaks the genetic code to create advance humans, The Red Skull or the Russians use this to create super soldiers and that's how we get Wanda and Quicksilver.

Maybe the connect comes from Both IronMan3 where the Russian charater's(sorry I forgot his name), grandfather worked on the Winter Soldier Project. The Winter Soldier will be in Capt America 2, and thaqt leads into Avengers 3.

Maybe the Avengers will have a battle on 2 fronts. A terrorist group and Ultron. Ultron is built to help fight terrorist group. Then Wanda and Quicksilver join the Avengers to help defeat Ultron earning a place on the team.

I don't mind them changing QS and SW's origin for Avengers 2 (although I'd prefer they didn't appear at all), but these kind of business decisions bleeding onto the creative side of the comics in such a blatant way is something I dislike. Why not keep them separate? The general audience won't care at all if QS and SW have a different origin in comics and in movies. They are not big enough to generate confusion or uproar. I don't care if they are inhumans or eternals in Avengers 2. I'd prefer to keep their mutant side of course, but whatever, as long as Whedon does a good job with them (either with a new origin or keeping that in the dark) it'll be fine. I know that I can have them as mutants in the comics and in Fox's films (or at least QS for now).

That being said, it's still possible that QS and SW won't have their origins changed in the comics and this is all for nothing.
