In the interview below with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Hemsworth reflects on being cast as Thor, comparing his experience with that of Samuel L. Jackson's when he was first presented with a lightsaber after joining the Star Wars prequels. He also comments on how people first perceived Kevin Feige's plans for Marvel Studios (the "B-Team") and later teases the "insane" and "huge" Avengers: Age of Ultron. He adds, "What I love about Joss is the incredible amount of detail in amongst that action. The action's sort of the bonus I think. What you get in this is a very detailed look at what those guys are going through in this particular current state of the world..."

I didn't enjoy TDW but it absolutely does not change my opinion on Hemsworth. He's been more than great so far, and TDW simply suffered from narrative that Hemsworth had to work with. Basically it didn't move anything forward or drag anything down. Besides Darcy. And Selvig, kinda.

I think we really lucked out with Hemsworth. He's as close as you can get to Thor, IMO. I'm having difficulty thinking of another great actor who could easily replace him. Casting Thor was probably one of the toughest characters to cast.

@EzioKenway1225

Of course those character moments are great. Especially that little time Hemsworth shared with Elba. Those don't really factor into the "doesn't help nor kill" thing I've come to terms with.

Since Joss isn't going to be working on Avengers 3, then I wonder if he could do Thor: Ragnarok. Joss Whedon, Kieron Gillen and of course Walt Simonson need to work together on the script for the next Thor movie and then have Joss direct it. With the AOU cinematographer.

He has been the best casting decision by Marvel after RDJ as Iron Man hands down. Looks the part, is a very good actor, and relishes the role.

Ezio - Agreed, Thor was head and shoulders above The Dark World! It actually focused on the Asgardians and the supporting characters were actually good in it too.

Honestly, I felt that The Dark World was disjointed and all over the place. I blame the Earth sequences for that and I hope Marvel stops focussing on Earth and starts focussing on Asgard. This is Thor dammit, not 'The Adventures of Thor and his Earth Friends'!

@DrDoom I think it's mostly because X-Titles dominated Marvel for two decades 80's and 90's, quite the golden years for those characters. Avengers are in that same sort of upswing this decade around.

The perfect actor to play thor. All i ask for thor: ragnarock is that they dont shoehorn surtur in. Leave him out of it. Focus on thor vs thanos with loki, amora skurge and the warriors 3 as well. Keep all the focus on asgard and perhaps nifleheim. To me this is the big lead in movie to infinity war part 1.
