How many of you say things like "I feel like I've seen the whole film already"? I'm pretty sure most of you have. Although it's not completely true, because films can still surprise us with the directions they take. But there are some scenes, and cameos, that get spoiled because of trailers.
The advertising departments want to feed us as much as they can. That's great and all, but the trailers and ads should be like an appetizer, they shouldn't feel like the whole buffet.
I came out of The Amazing Spiderman 2 liking it alot. But I didn't love it like I should have because the advertising department screwed the pooch.
There are things that I knew going into the Amazing Spiderman 2, that I really shouldn't have known until AFTER it happened.
Another example is Dawn of The Planet of the Apes, and I'm not talking about the whole movie, because the movie as a whole surprised me. But there was a certain scene invloving Koba ( you know which one) that was shown in the trailers. I felt like that scene would've been far more impactful on the audience if it wasn't shown in any advertisements.
I feel the Avengers: Age of Ultron will be an awesome movie, but I pretty much want to go into it, knowing almost nothing.
Which is why I will not watch any trailers for this movie. TV spots are almost unavoidable, but seeing how I don't watch THAT much Telivision, I think I'll be fine.
I'm not going to do this with every trailer for every movie. But I want to see if not watching the trailer will enhance the experience.
So I kind of want to ask...Do you think you can do this? Can you refrain from watching
any Avengers 2 related trailers? Or is it just far too difficult? Also, have you tried this with any other movie? I really want to read your thoughts on this.
