AVENGERS: ENDGAME Composer Alan Silvestri Teases MCU Return For Upcoming Project - Could It Be SECRET WARS?

After creating that iconic theme for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Avengers composer Alan Silvestri (Captain America: The First Avenger) has all but confirmed he's now gearing up for another MCU return.

Alan Silvestri is a legendary composer who counts like likes of Back to the FutureForrest GumpLilo & Stitch, and Ready Player One among his many credits. He's also something of an icon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Responsible for creating the now unmistakable theme for Earth's Mightiest Heroes first heard in 2012's The Avengers, Silvestri kicked off his MCU run by lending his talents to Captain America: The First Avenger. He'd later return for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

Total Film recently caught up with the composer and asked if he's planning to work on another Marvel movie.

"Well, it looks like that could be happening, I just can’t talk about it [Laughs]," he teased. "I love that universe, for sure." While The Fantastic Four seems like a possibility for Silvestri, we'd be shocked if Marvel Studios isn't lining him up for Avengers 5 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (even though neither movie has a confirmed director).

For now, he's busy working on the Russo Brothers' next movie which arrives on Netflix later this year. "I’m also knee deep in The Electric State with the Russos which is why I have to go home tomorrow bright and early," he explained. "I have a lot of work to do and that film is looking fantastic."

In 2021, Silvestri said this about whether he'd be open to scoring another Avengers movie:

"I would always be completely open to an invitation from those folks [at Marvel]. As you know I did Captain America [The First Avenger] and the first Avengers. They actually did [use my Avengers theme], but they didn’t have me [on Avengers: Age of Ultron]. But that’s okay."

"So they had me for Avengers 1, 3 and 4. For all the crazy expectations and pressure on those guys...and by that, I’m primarily talking about Kevin Feige and The Russo Brothers. They had an insane amount of pressure on them. For me, it was an amazingly great creative environment to work in."

"They were the most lovely, respectful, collaborative folks, so I would always be open to being invited to go back for whatever. But today I’ve not gotten that call."

We'll see what happens, but with Marvel Studios looking to get back on the right track, hiring Silvestri feels like an important part of that. It's been far too long since we last sat down to watch an Avengers movie in theaters, but those next instalments are now on the horizon.

Avengers 5 has been dated for May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on May 7, 2027.

@vectorsigma - I was listening to the soundtrack of Doctor Strange on Apple Music. Seriously, it's brilliant.

I love it and it's my all time favorite soundtrack.

The Master Of The Ending Credits is so freaking awesome.

"Could It Be SECRET WARS?"

That depends.

If it "is" Secret Wars, than it will be.

If it is "not", than it won't.

Your question makes no sense.

I Think it would be Avengers 5, right? Not sure why he would skip it and not come back until Secret Wars.

I dunno what people see in Giacchino, guy is mid af and occasionally delivers legit good tracks but that's it.

But Silvestri on the other hand? Eheheh yeeeeah, now we're talking! >:)

Good thing MS at least realized where they should put which composer, what needs to be memorable and where you can afford to have a nice hook or motif -and that's it- in an ocean OST after OST.

@Doomsday8888 -

Giacchino has legit great leitmotiffs. He understands the project and comes up with appropriate riffs for each movie he's been a part of. Silvestri is a lot more classic, though. Along with Shore and JNH, they're maybe the last ones who continue Williams' school of whimsical tunes and classical instrumentation.

I'd personally love to see them experiment with relatively new composers for certain projects, like they did with Natalie Holt for Loki.

Exactly, which is not even that hard of a thing to do, same shit he did with The Batman as well and it got boring...FAST.

I'm not even trying to act like a smartass but people who are not knowledgeable deadass think 1 good hook or leitmotif makes for a whole album made of different soundtracks... for a composer's variety and creativity and i'm like

:P

Lol, I get ya. One track alone can never carry a whole album.

But go watch ep8 ASAP!

Sweet , he could be a good fit for FF honestly but I could see them bringing him back for the Avengers films instead.

Anyway , Mr Silvestri is a legend so it would be great to have him back in the MCU either way!!.

The moment that cemented Silvestri's MCU's scores for me is still to this day the Helicarrier track.

People sleep on how great this track is, and how it manages to not only normalize comic book geekiness to every day reality, but also praise it as something wholesome and awe-inspiring.

I found out last year that my best friend of thirty years thought that Alan Silvestri and Marc Silvestri were brothers. Embarrassing. I let him live it down, though, because that's friendship, gents.

Speaking of Marc Silvestri, though (I mean, I was) best X-Men artist ever?
