ANT-MAN AND THE WASP's Evangeline Lilly Explains The Significance Of Her Role In AVENGERS 4

It sounds like we'd best temper expectations when it comes to how much of The Wasp we'll be seeing in Avengers 4 because Evangeline Lilly has now weighed in on what the extent of her role is going to be.

Paul Rudd's Ant-Man has been spotted on the set of Avengers 4 on a number of occasions but what about The Wasp? While Evangeline Lilly will be making an appearance in the movie, she's now revealed that her character is going to have a limited role and that's no doubt going to disappoint many fans.

Asked on Instagram about how much we'll see of the pint-sized hero, she explained: "I will appear in Avengers 4. Not very much, so don’t get your hopes up. Not going to be a ton. But I’m in there! And I’m proud to be in there, and I’m stoked to be in there." That's good to hear but it's still disappointing to think that it could be glorified cameo, especially as she missed out on Captain America: Civil War!

On the plus side, it sounds like the actress had an amazing time on the set of the Marvel Studios movie.

"I had so much fun on the Avengers 4 film set because they made it like a party. It was right around Christmas time and it was just like they had this tent set up with Christmas carols, with Christmas lights, and music, so every time we would be on set or walk off the set we’d walk into this really festive environment and I was surrounded by all these rock stars who are super cool people in real life and we all got to know each other. Robert Downey Jr. would have us to his tent for lunch and we’d all sit down and have lunch together.

"It ended up being what I think a lot of fans think a lot of fans imagine its like on a film set with a bunch of film stars, which usually it isn’t. Usually film stars all go to their own trailers and disappear and don’t talk to one another and they get on the phone with their wife or their husband or their agent or their the CEO of a company that they’re running and they’ve got something to do during their lunch hour, and sometimes it can be a really lonely place ot be, on a film set. But Avengers was the polar opposite of that. It was this community, and it was fun, and people were really warm and kind."

It's a shame that we won't be seeing all that much of The Wasp in Avengers 4 but an appearance there will hopefully open the door to her assembling with the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes somewhere down the line. What do you guys think of these comments? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Seeing all these cool new female characters have actually made me interested in the idea of an all female team movie, especially after the Ant Man and the Wasp trailer with the blade running.

@noahthegrand - I'd be interested to see how they would set up such a movie... The team-up movies so far have not been all male team-up movies, they have been movies with characters who happen to be (mostly) male. If they made an all female film, they would have to incapacitate the male characters in order for it to make sense

@Bokis - I think the best way to do it inorder to make sense "in universe", would be to have Echantress be the villian of the film. That automatically takes the men out of the film as they would be ensared by her (though I wonder if Vision would be affected). And that could easily justify an all female team up.

Other than that, I think they could easily get away with making a small team of 3-4 who go off on their own for a bit. Say Nebula, Valkeyie, Gamora and Shuri decided to go on a small space adventure by themselves.

@noahthegrand - agreed, especially the villains! Also, I'm glad that Avengers was a great set environment... makes me excited to see the end result of a happy cast and crew

@Bokis - exactly my concerns. How do you make it all female for a reason without getting all CW campy.

@PBIRD - I think you can also make it situational. Like there a mission where they need to seduce someone for information, and then it goes wrong. You can still have the male avengers, but maybe as supporting roles

@PBIRD - It could be done if it was just, say, Gamora and Nebula but if they did it with everyone it would be just like a CW crossover... The Avengers movies aren't really "all-male teamups" they are just movies who's main characters happen to be male

Makes sense. This film is already gonna be packed so I'm not expecting too much presence from every character

Scenes like this had me laughing. Seemed like good chemistry between them.

I guess she won’t be Wasp if it’s a small interaction.

Obviously too late, but I believe she would have made a better, and more comic-accurate, Wonder Woman than Gal Gadot. To me, that's Wonder Woman.
