Earlier this week, Disney+ announced that IMAX versions of thirteen Marvel Studios movies would be added to the streaming service. Just like in IMAX theaters, that means viewers will see 26% more of the action playing out on screen, something that does make a difference (especially if a filmmaker has shot parts of their movie specifically with IMAX cameras).
These enhanced versions only arrived on Disney+ yesterday, but eagle-eyed fans have already noticed key details anyone who didn't watch these MCU titles in IMAX would have missed. Among them is a key scene in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
As the recently departed Tony Stark delivers that pre-recorded message to his daughter, Morgan, the IMAX ratio reveals that along with Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan, Steve Rogers/Captain America and Thor were also present. Now, the could be seen in the widescreen version of Avengers: Endgame from the chest down, but we certainly didn't pay much attention to them before now.
It's amazing what a difference just seeing their faces makes, and it actually adds quite a bit to this moment. After all, Steve and Thor were two of Iron Man's closes allies and friends, and were there right alongside him for that battle with Thanos.
It will be interesting to find out what else is discovered in the weeks to come, and while we're not expecting anything as major as this, you never know what you might stumble across.
