Avengers: Endgame is a movie fans will be talking about for generations. Like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings before it, the Marvel superhero ensemble has established itself as an epic that will be remembered for a very long time. This status among viewers is likely why it is still holding strong after its first Monday at the box office.
On its fourth day in domestic theaters, Avengers: Endgame has held noticeably better than all previous Avengers films. While Avengers, Age of Ultron and Infinity War suffered drops around the 64-74% range, Endgame managed to drop a mere 59% for its fourth day. This is even more impressive considering the assumed frontloaded nature of the film.
Though it has a steady drop, the Infinity War follow-up did not break the record for the best domestic Monday, which is still held by Black Panther's President's Day weekend. Endgame remains third behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which had a Christmas Break advantage. Only time will tell if Endgame's current $394 million gross will surpass the near $1 billion The Force Awakens made at the domestic box office.
