AVENGERS: ENDGAME Makes Fantastic $37 Million On Fourth Day Of Release But Fails To Break Monday Record

With a $357 Million three day weekend, Avengers: Endgame has broken the record for the highest opening ever. With an over performance of that scale and a great Monday, there are no signs of stopping...

Avengers: Endgame is a movie fans will be talking about for generations. Like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings before it, the Marvel superhero ensemble has established itself as an epic that will be remembered for a very long time. This status among viewers is likely why it is still holding strong after its first Monday at the box office.

On its fourth day in domestic theaters, Avengers: Endgame has held noticeably better than all previous Avengers films. While Avengers, Age of Ultron and Infinity War suffered drops around the 64-74% range, Endgame managed to drop a mere 59% for its fourth day. This is even more impressive considering the assumed frontloaded nature of the film.

Though it has a steady drop, the Infinity War follow-up did not break the record for the best domestic Monday, which is still held by Black Panther's President's Day weekend. Endgame remains third behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which had a Christmas Break advantage. Only time will tell if Endgame's current $394 million gross will surpass the near $1 billion The Force Awakens made at the domestic box office.

I think its final take will be 3.2 Bill when all is said and done. There will be a spike when Far From Home releases also. Same thing happened for Captain Marvel.

@smgmayhem - if it came out December or February I think it would have done better tbh. I mean it’s doing spectacular and 3.2 is possible but I think if it came out a month or two sooner it def would have

@smgmayhem - I actually got upset with my daughter in college for wanting to see Endgame before Capt. Marvel...I told her she better not try it...in order or nothing...I'm starting to think the MCU is a cult now!!!!

….save me...

@smgmayhem - yeah, End Game was the one spiking CM, I dont see how FFH will have much impact in this case.

@smgmayhem - Will Endgame still be in theaters when FFH comes out? Isn't that in July?

@smgmayhem - I think it will be cut down a bit by Detective Pikachu. If it had a month to two it would be a shoe in for 3 billion, but in about 3 weeks DP will be the first of a bunch of hyped movies that will cut into endgames overall earning. It will still pass 2.3 easily, but 3 billion and even avatar seem a little on the lower side

So the only 2 movies to perform better on Mondays had holiday breaks to bolster its availability. Makes sense. Endgame is ridiculously successful already but it would be a whole other level if it broke records set by films aided by holidays.

@Subtlespammer24 - I couldn't agree more. Endgame is deserving of every accolade and broken record it's a attained. Such a glorious time to be alive.

@PTM - it’s gettin another 40 outta me cause i just booked me and the wife this Saturday at IMAX gonna go big time. I was surprised how crowded the IMAX already is with how much it costs, wow!!

@PTM - Right. The author fails to point this out. School was out on TFA’s first Monday and on BP’s president’s day Monday. So 37 million on a non-holiday is extraordinary and unheard of. Avatar could go down!

@Subtlespammer24 - oh thank you for reminding me! I've seen it in standard and in 3d. Was about to do standard again this weekend because I recently got glasses (getting old sucks) and the 3d glasses over my normal glasses was kinda not ideal so I preferred standard. But now I'm thinking I need to check out the IMAX experience too. I wish there was a 4D theater near me, I'd check that out too.

@richal13 - meh, I think they did a decent job pointing that out. That's the only way I was able make my comment, cuz of the information they provided.

I think It falls under $3B but beats Avatar tho. TFA and Black Panther had holiday advantages to its Monday numbers. So this is still impressive. This movie gonna have legs like Forrest Gump.

It’s definitely going to hit the 2 billion mark by Saturday or Sunday.

So 2.8 to 3 billion is super possible
