Brightburn is already available on Digital and arrives in stores on DVD and Blu-ray TODAY. To mark the movie's release, we recently caught up with lead star Jackson A. Dunn, and among the topics we discussed was his role in
Avengers: Endgame as the young, 12-year-old Scott Lang.
He appeared briefly during that hilarious sequence in which The Hulk inadvertently sends time through Ant-Man rather than Ant-Man through time.
In this excerpt from our
Brightburn interview, Jackson talks about what it was like to work on
Avengers: Endgame, the insane amount of secrecy on set, and not even knowing what movie he was starring in (not to mention the fact he was left in the dark about auditioning for a Marvel Studios movie). It's great to get his thoughts on the process, as it was clearly quite an experience!
Check back here later for our full interview with Jackson about
Brightburn.
Another superhero movie you appeared in this year was Avengers: Endgame. What was your experience like working on that movie and did you have any idea about the context of the scene you were shooting at the time?
I had literally no idea. I knew I was playing Ant-Man. I thought that maybe I was in Ant-Man and The Wasp as someone on set was wearing that jacket, but Paul Rudd told me that he'd already wrapped that, so I knew I wasn't in that. Then, I thought I would be in Infinity War and I got invited to the cast and crew screening of that in Atlanta while I was filming Brightburn and I wasn't in that either so, at that point, I assumed I was either cut from the movie or I was in the next one which no one knew the title of at the time. I wasn't actually able to get my credit up for a long time so it was a lot of waiting. I didn't know I was in it until I watched it!
When you auditioned, did you know it was for a Marvel movie or were you not told any specifics?
Even when I auditioned, I didn't know it was a Marvel movie! They had a whole cover up for it and they're super secretive. There are posters everywhere saying 'Loose Lips, Sink Ships' and employees get fired for taking a picture of a flower on set that's a mile away from where they're shooting so it's really on lock down!
It's got to feel pretty good at this point in your career to be in the highest grossing movie of all-time?
Yeah, for sure. It was a great experience on set too. Paul Rudd is a great guy and he showed me around and showed me all the Avengers sets and the Quinjet and all the fun stuff so it was definitely one of the more fun shoots I've done.
