Some Fans Believe They've Already Spotted A Crossover Between AVENGERS 4 And DEADPOOL 2

The Disney/Fox merger still isn't a done deal but some eagle-eyed fans believe they've already spotted a nod to Avengers 4 in Deadpool 2 and if they're right, this could be a game-changer for the MCU...

In Deadpool, the final fight took place on something which looked an awful lot like a Helicarrier. That was long before the Disney/Fox merger was in the works, of course, and while there's still a chance that deal could fall apart, there's a strong possibility it will happen and that characters like Deadpool, Wolverine, the X-Men, and Fantastic Four will soon be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Was that merger teased in Deadpool 2, though? As you can see below, fans on social media are pointing out the similarities between the time-travelling device worn by Cable in the sequel and those strange gadgets Captain America, Iron Man, and Ant-Man have been shown wearing in scenes which are quite clearly set in the past in Avengers 4. It's a stretch but they're definitely visually similar.

While this may not be an "official" crossover per se, it could be that execs at Fox and Marvel got together and deliberately made these designs similar in order to later point out that it was Tony Stark who created the time-travel device later used by Cable. Honestly, that seems unlikely but it is a nice thought and time travel would certainly be one way to help merge these two Marvel
Universes.

I did find it intersitng that DP2 beat Avengers to the punch on how to resolve all the “deaths” and to put right what once went wrong.

@IronGenesis - Deadpool 2 isn't exactly the originators of the "time travel to bring back dead characters" trope.

Twin. Robot. Clone. Time travel.

These are the most used ways to bring characters back from the dead.

@IronGenesis - That's because they never needed to resort to that type of storytelling yet. I'm surprised with 18 films out.
