While TV shows like Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they also stand apart from the movies produced by Marvel Studios. While it's often said that boils down to the complications which come with lining up the production schedules of the company's big and small screen offerings, it's more likely got something to do with the divide between the two divisions.
Now, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has once again addressed the possibility of a crossover while promoting Avengers: Infinity War and it sounds like a subject he's getting a little sick of talking about. "I don’t know. It really remains to be seen. So much of what they’re doing has been set. We’ve already shot Avengers 4. So much of what we’re doing is set, but I just, I never say never, but I’m not sure when that would be." On the plus side, at least he's open to the idea (on the surface).
Avengers: Infinity War co-screenwriter Christopher Markus, meanwhile, wasn't quite so positive and pointed out that it's simply too much of a challenge to try and bridge the gap between these two - but still the same - worlds. "It’s hard to factor them in," he explains, "because that is what, five more heroes and you’re trying to blend them in and trying to get them, you know, we’ve taken some people off to the end of the universe but again, it’s a bridge too far, I think on a storytelling level."
That pretty much draws a line under it and while it's a shame that we'll never get to see the likes of Daredevil and Iron Fist helping out The Avengers, stranger things have happened so maybe we're best off just waiting and seeing for now. After all, who thought Spider-Man and the X-Men would ever be in the MCU? For now, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this news in the comments section.
