On the big screen, what's left of Earth's Mightiest will pick themselves up and attempt to regroup in an effort to stop Thanos in
Avengers: Endgame. The Mad Titan may have already secured all six Infinity Stones and assembled the Infinity Gauntlet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in
Fortnite's new
Avengers: Endgame crossover event, there's still time to stop him.
Arriving today is a new limited time game mode, "Endgame." Inspired by the looming big screen showdown, the new 20v20 mode sees
"Thanos and his Chitauri invade the Battle Royale island, in search of the six Infinity Stones." It's up to the team of Heroes to stop him from assembling the Infinity Gauntlet.
Players on the Hero team will have access to some of the Avengers most powerful items: Thor's Hammer, Hawkeye's Bow, Captain America's Shield, or Iron Man's Repulsors. These weapons provide special abilities and powers to help stop Thanos. On the opposite side is the army of Chitauri Invaders, who start with their own set of powerful weapons and technology. The goal for the Chitauri is to collect all six Infinity Stones; the first player on the team to find one becomes Thanos, who comes with his own set of powerful abilities.
Respawning for both teams is unlimited until the other side completes their objective. The goal for Thanos and his army is to first secure all six Infinity Stones, at which point the Heroes will be unable to respawn. From there, all Team Thanos must do is eliminate the remaining heroes. The goal for the Hero team is much more straightforward: destroy the Chitauri army and defeat Thanos. Eliminating the Chitauri Invaders will drain from a pool of allowed respawns.
Making things a bit more difficult, each Infinity Stone collected makes Thanos and his army more powerful. In addition to increased health for the Chitauri, the stones provide the following boosts to Thanos' abilities:
-
Reality Stone (Red) = Heath & Shields doubled (1000->2000)
-
Soul Stone (Orange) = Siphon activated (grants Thanos shields only)
-
Mind Stone (Yellow) = Jump height doubled
-
Space Stone (Blue) = Ground Pound AOE size tripled, damage x6
-
Time Stone (Green) = Big knockback added to each hit, damage x3
-
Power Stone (Purple) = Laser damage x6
The limited time mode also comes with a set of special challenges that unlock Marvel-inspired rewards that exclusive to the event, along with special Marvel cosmetics available for purchase via the in-game Item Shop. Available today is the Black Widow bundle, which features an outfit, back bling, and pickaxe that, when equipped, can transform you into the deadly fan-favorite assassin and OG Avenger. The Black Widow bundle is actually part of the "Avengers" set, which suggests cosmetics inspired by Marvel's other heroes will also become available throughout the event as well.
Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26 (not including Thursday's early preview showings).
