Clark Gregg Reveals That There Has Been "Talk" Of A S.H.I.E.L.D/Agent Coulson TV Show!

The actor discusses his role in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series as Agent Coulson while also revealing that there has been talk of the character hitting the small screen in live action too...

After invading numerous Marvel Studios movies as the popular Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D, it looks like Clark Gregg may just end up playing the character on the small screen not only in animation form (Ultimate Spider-Man) but live action as well!

"You know, there has been a little bit of talk about that. It's been revealed today that I'm already doing Ultimate Spidey, the animated series, which is about Spider-Man and a couple of other soon to be released superheroes who are hiding out undercover in a high school in New York, and Agent Coulson is hiding out as their principal to keep an eye on them and taking things way too seriously."

In a lot of ways S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Coulson lend themselves to an idea of a TV show because it's normal people, it's real people, dealing with extraordinary things."

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

Cobie Smulders' (sp?) contract on How I Met Your Mother is up in two years. So I don't expect Maria Hill to be apart of it before 2013. Fall 2013 would be the earliest if she's involved.

Since when did 'Agent Coulson' become Nick Fury? A nerdy, pencil neck white dude running around trying to corral super heroes with persuasive words and golly gosh resignation? Sounds like my morning dump.

Make it happen. This is a way better idea than a Cloak & Dagger or Jessica Jones show.

Damn Clark Gregg sure got himself a sweet gig with Marvel Studios...if he plays his cards right, he can milk this for years to come....and i like his character Agent Coulson, so i wouldnt mind one bit.

That'll be cool! Clark Gregg is a good guy.

Wont need too much special effects and money, just good storytelling

Dev7 - way to end the sentence half way through, diminishing all context of what Clark Gregg was puttting across about the tv show. [frick]ing douche.

This show would be directly completing with Powers which has a similar premise: normal people dealing with super-powered beings. I haven't read the comic so I can't throw an opinion on which would be a better idea, but I am a Marvel fan so I say go for it. Perhaps they could through in new heroes every episode as a tester for who should get the next big film. Yeah!

That would be pretty cool. It would somewhat bridge the gaps between the movies. It would be fun to see shield doing their day to day workings and taking down villains. It would also be fun to see the guys from the movies guest starring...this would also be a pretty cool way to introduce the lesser known Avengers into the MCU...like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, ect.

Clark Gregg has hit on a good thing in his role as Agent Coulson. I love how he plays the character and hope that he has continued success at it. I hope this opens him up to even more roles in Hollywood.
AC1
AC1 - 7/26/2011, 1:35 PM
This would be cool, especially if we get the occasional appearance from Nick Fury, Maria Hill and other heroes. But the series should focus on the 'ground level' Shield agents, with Coulson being their leader or something. Fury and Hill are on the helicarrier, sorting out the big stuff, while Coulson and his team are sorting out smaller stuff, like a police force sorting out superhero/villain situations.
But, I hope they dont fall into the trap that shows like Smallville did, with (1) messing up continuity/ taking liberties and (2) making the seasons too long.

Instead of the 20 eps per season US shows tend to have, shorten them to 10 or less, great quality episodes, with one main story arc and maybe one or two minor sub plots
