In an interview with SuperHeroHype on the set of Desperate Housewives, the actress has put an end to the numerous rumors and so-called "inside sources" who've linked her to the role in the past and set the record straight once and for all. She wont be playing the Wasp in Ant-Man or The Avengers and has never been in the running!
On Whether The Rumors Are True:
"I keep hearing about that. I think it’s an Internet rumor as of now...I love comics stuff. I do, I think it's fun, but I don't know anything about that character. I don't know who or what that is. I know she's small! I've got to talk to somebody about that. I've got to Google her."
On What She Thinks About The Rumor:
"I think it’s a fantastic rumor! We're just going to go with it. Maybe it'll get me hired!"
On Why Exactly She Met With Marvel:
"I had taken a meeting about a different movie at Marvel, and that’s where the rumor started. When I was walking out, paparazzi caught me walking out and they thought I was going in to meet about that."
Well, I'm not sure about you guys but this news is a little disappointing. Not because Longoria was my top choice for the role of Janet Van Dyne (although I think she'd have done a good enough jon) but because this seems like yet another bit of news that makes it less and less likely either this character or Hank Pym will appear in The Avengers!
