Last week it was reported that a stolen copy of the script for Joss Whedon's Avengers was being offered up for sale to certain sites and movie blogs online. We ourselves received an offer from this certain someone. But nobody was ever really sure if the script was the real deal or a fake. Well, apparently, it WAS a real copy of Samuel L Jackson's script, or at least the script at that time. As Chris Hemsworth said recently that if it was real, it was an old copy and many things will have changed since. Marvel/Paramount have not yet confirmed that the script is out there, but according to Movieweb it's out there in a big way!..
The question becomes, "What happened to this script and the people that stole it?" Well, we can confirm that cheaply Xeroxed copies of what appears to be this exact stolen screenplay, first reported on by Obsessed with Film, have started to appear alongside bootleg DVDs sold by street vendors in downtown Los Angeles.
Apparently one of their guys went right up and flicked through the script, saying that it certainly seemed to be the same script that was offered online. The vendor also had copies of
Captain America: TFA and Quentin Tarantino's
Django Unchained. It's certainly an interesting development when movie scripts are being bootlegged right along with DVDs on side streets. One things for sure though, IF this is legit, someone will be buying it, and that means we can expect spoilers from this early draft online at some point. We at CBM strongly urge you all to keep well away from these black market vendors and their scripts! But if one of you happen to purchase one, let us know the gory details eh?:)
