Louis Letterier wants a crack at the AVENGERS

... and I say let him.

"Clash of the Titans" and "Incredible Hulk" director Louis Leterrier has made no secret of the fact that he'd love to be behind the camera when "The Avengers" kicks off production. So when we recently caught up with him to discuss his 2010 plans, we had to get a bit more info about how likely he is to helm Marvel's superhero team-up blockbuster.

"I hope they don't find a director before I'm available, because I'd love to take a crack at [Avengers]," Leterrier told in an interview with MTV News. "It's just an amazing universe, and to have everybody involved..."

Letterier was humble enough to say that he is the second best to direct an Avengers movie and of course the ideal director would have been:

"Jon Favreau would've been the best director to do this thing, but now that he's a producing, I'd love to be able to work with him and continue what I started with 'Hulk' and what he started with 'Iron Man' and we do it together and continue that universe," he said.

If it's likely to happen, Letterier has this to say:

"It's like an option," he said of his movie deal with Marvel. "I was optioned for two movies with Marvel. So every time I do a movie, like 'Clash of the Titans' for example, I say, 'Guys, I'm about to do 'Clash' — so can I do it?' And they say, 'Yeah, we have nothing for you, so go ahead.'"

And he has this to say about Marvel:

"I love the Marvel universe," he laughed. "I love those guys."

I do think Letterier will be a perfect fit in directing "The Avengers." He has done quite well with "Incredible Hulk." So he already knows what he is getting into. And he knows how to do Action.

One carry over might from his "Clash" days will be a Sam Worthington Cap?... who knows.

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

I loved Incredible Hulk! Letterier and Favreau could really do this project some justice.

This would be awsome if it came to pass. They would make an excellent Avengers tag team duo.

I think he'd do an awesome job, the final fight scene in the Incredible Hulk was simply phenomonal and when Hulk shouted "Hulki Smash!" I gor a shiver down my spine...nerdgasm ;) Him and Fav would do a great job.

However i can see Louis, Jon, Ken Brannagh and Joe Johnston becoming producers and them having a brand new director for Avengers. But I would like Louis!!!

Yes! Let the Frenchman do it! He held together the movie despite the drama between Ed Norton and Zak Penn. There is a huge potential for drama in the cast of the Avengers. Letterier has proved that he can keep his cool and keep it all together.

@Grif: Your new avatar is very striking! When I looked at it, it felt like an 3ft icicle was stabbed through my chest. I remember where I was that day...

I know this would be impossible but can all the Directors like Co-Direct or something. It'd be amazing to have all the Directors direct the charecters they brought to the screen.

LMAO @ Jusme6

Yeah I would be cool with Leterrier taking a crack at it. They could do worse.

If he does do it I hope he gets their powers right. That's one thing that would ruin it for me. I don't think Letterrier or Putang Lee either one did that exactly on Hulk

I love this director. I love Hulk I thought it was better (dare I say) than Iron Man and the Dark Knight as soon as I saw his name attached to Clash I was ready to give my $10.00 to that flick. I vote yes!!! I am also glad to know the Jon is involved with Avengers I honestly missed that news.

@Ryden: I agree with you about having the rest of the directors as producers and having someone else direct. It would be awesome to have full collaboration. I won't cry if he's directing either. The Avengers are big action and he does that well.

I believe he can pull it off. Directors Kenneth Brana and Jon Fav can work with him on Avengers, boy that would be the ultimate assembly of directors there.

I think he's going to direct the movie. He can solve 2 studio's matters:to choose a good free director which is already involved with this superheroes stuff, and to mediate between production and Ed Norton about his role's replacement. Norton will give Louis more than a credit

1chris2 - 1/9/2010, 6:16 AM
hell yeah then he could bring in the leader and we would not be left hangin, and some more abomination, and maybe ultron or save ultron for the sequel to avengers.if they do not use leader then a sequel to hulk is needed to finish the story because its left open, and it was a pretty sweet film.ohh teabag thanks again for the post of iceman i have another i cannot find its glob herman from x-3 if you could post it cool if not thats alright man but thanks for what you did man so cool.ohhh and hows leatherbag doin?
IRONRED
IRONRED - 1/9/2010, 6:52 AM
I was hoping for a new Hulk movie before the avengers, something to set even more the characters before the team-up movie ... "The Incredible Hulk" was a really good adaptation, just like Iron Man. I would like a plot where S.H.I.E.L.D hire Bruce Banner to start working again into the supersoldier thing, giving him a promise to help him with his green friend problem.

I agree that Jon would've been the best for it, but Louis would be great. I mean, they have a great crew ((except for Zak Penn.....hatehim))

I agree 100% Favreau and Leterrier for the Avengers, and if you can get Kenneth Branagh to help as well, you're going to be looking at a Box Office hit and a continuity of all those universes together. I say go for it Marvel/Disney.
Timerider84
Timerider84 - 1/9/2010, 8:59 AM
@ IronRed, I like that idea, but I would have it where he has the cure or antidote for his big green friend in his hand, and opts to help his Avenger friends and loses the only way ever to be just human again. That's how I would do the Avengers. Yes, I know it's just like Fantastic Four's Thing decision, but it's a great character advancement for Bruce Banner.

Louis Letterier is one of my new fav directors. The Incredible Hulk is one of my top "go-to" movies to watch anytime. I'd love to see him do Incredible Hulk 2 though, but I'd be fine with him directing Avengers as well.

LEE: Lol, I'm with teabag here - she is nowhere near attractive enough to play Wasp! Even in V where she looks 100x better than in those pics, I struggle to find her in the least bit good looking!! ;)
