A while ago, I did an article in FAN FIC that suggested possible directors for the Avengers movie. After much thought and consideration, I think I have come up with the two best choices (IN MY OPINION) who can fill the directors chair. Here we go.

LOUIS LETERRIER

What he has directed: Transporter 2, Unleashed, The Incredible Hulk, and Clash of the Titans.

Why he is ideal: Leterrier has proven himself to be an impressive action director with not many films under his belt. And TIH showed that he knows what it takes to bring a comic book character to the screen the right way. He also knows how direct actors well, considering the great performances in TIH by Tim Roth and Edward Norton. Leterrier knows what it takes to make a great action movie while still feeling for your characters. He has already gone on record saying that he would like to direct The Avengers anyway, so take the hint Marvel.

OR

J.J ABRAMS

What he has directed: Star Trek, Mission Impossible 3

Why he is ideal: J.J Abrams has shown Hollywood that he can take anything he is given and turn it into art. Now he wasn't originally on my list, but the more I watch his movies, the more I realize how great he would make the Avengers movie. Star Trek was fantastic and I think that Mission Impossible 3 is a truly underated movie. J.J definatley has what it takes to make a truly memorable film.

i'm withholding judgment on Leterrier until after i see Clash of the Titans.
i liked the direction he took with TIH, but that was only for one major hero. Avengers at the least will have five if not six major players.

while JJ Abrams brought an ensemble cast into the movie that restarted the hype for the long lived Star Trek franchise. again, i'm not entirely sure about either of these choices.

but knowing Marvel, they'll go out of left field and bring in a director that no one can guess.
but can you imagine if Peter Jackson came on board to direct? talk about EPIC!!!!

I like Abrams, but his style doesn't seem to fit a superhero genre.

Wadey...did you get my email?

Both sound like they could really do a good job with the movie. What about Michael Bay? LoL "Bayplosions" LMAO, I'd love for somebody to post that again.

But seriously, I think Louis is good. But he was too over the top with Transporter 2. But maybe, we were supposed to suspend our disbelief for the movie when we went in to see it. Because if that was the case, then the movie was a good watch.

JJ, hmmm, well I am at odds with the New Star Trek movie. He did kind of revive the Star Trek franchise and killed it at the same time. No one likes starting new. Bottom line, was I entertained. yes. was I dissapointed at all? To a point. Did I leave the movie thinking "Why did I pay money to see that movie?"
No. So that is 2 to 1 in favor of JJ's film. But one good film does not an Avengers Director make.

4th Wall, these two come pretty close to the wire and it seems are both evenly matched. Good picks man. Maybe they could team up and do a Lous and JJ movie. It's been successful with two other directors coming together, like Lucas and Spielberg did with the Indiana Jones series.

Again, nice work 4th. Give yourself a pat on the back. "Pat Pat"

@Scorpiox
yes i replied earlier today.
but i just checked my mail again and it said there was an error with the reply i sent you.
i just resent it.

in case you don't get it, here's what i wrote:

sorry, I wish I could be of more help. But I got my avatar from an article that I believe JoshW posted a few months back. I haven't been able to find it. But all i did was save the avatar on my computer and then added it as my avatar.
again, I wish I could be of more help.

btw i'll stick to my wishful thinking about Peter Jackson!

I think Leterrier is the better choice for this genre. Like others, I'm holding my final judgement until after I watch Titans. I like Abrams, but not sure if CBM's are a good fit for him.

@Wadey- It would be very interesting to see what Jackson would do with a CBM, especially an ensemble film like Avengers. Spielberg would be interesting as well.

"What about Michael Bay? LoL "Bayplosions" LMAO, I'd love for somebody to post that again."

I was listening to a podcast the other month and they were asking which directors should direct comic book movies.Someone said Michael Bay that even though Michael Bay isn't an overall great director, he would make an excellent second unit director. If that were even possible(it isn't) it would be really cool to have a superhero movie were someone else directed it and he was in charge of the action sequences.

Of these two, I'd have to say Abrams. LL does action movies well, but I think he lacks a little in presenting story content and character development, two elements that are crucial to making a truly great film!
