UPDATE: Mark Ruffalo Says The Avengers Script Is "Equal Parts Hulk And Banner"

This just in from the Oscars red carpet. While being interviews by MTV, Ruffalo spoke a little more about playing The Hulk in Joss Whedon's Avengers..

We have heard quite a bit from Ruffalo regarding his role in The Avengers recently as he seems to be the most forthcoming with information and willing to talk about it. The latest from the man who will go green in the highly anticipated movie comes from an interview he just did with Josh Horowitz over at MTV.



Ruffalo says that we will see "Equal parts Hulk and Bruce Banner" in the movie and that he is "introduced in a really great way, and after that we have all the great Hulk stuff" Horowitz then asks about whether The Hulk may play a villainous role in the movie, and Ruffalo does a very telling eyebrow raise, while his wife giggles. Horowitz seems to take this as a yes. It certainly seems pretty affirmative! But when(if) the video is added you can decide for yourselves.

"There's some great Bruce Banner stuff [in 'Avengers'], kind of a slant on him that we haven't seen before," said Ruffalo. "He's introduced in a really great way."

@suspenseSmith yeah man i just rewatched TIH today and im still blown away by it. It really showed the brutality of the hulk!!. I would like to see that used for good! And you make a good point. An entire movie about taking down the hulk is kinda...meh..

Hulk as "the villain" would be too simplistic and would not be a good continuation of the story started in The Incredible Hulk.

They ll Have iron man Thor and cap team up at first to take the hulk down cuz he ll be smashing shit up over some misunderstanding then they ll become the avengers.in the third act they ll be faced with some impossible odds and have to use the hulk as a last resort , they ll release him he'll help them save the day Robert Downey jnr will say something funny credits roll.

hulk won't be the villain, he'll get the avengers together as shield will want hulk to be captured so the avengers will try to take him down... then there will be another villain that is trying to take over the world or something and the avengers will have to band together again! and hulk will probably come too and they'll do the team...

i would love for the skrulls to be the villians in the first, the 2nd ultron, and the 3rd film either thanos or kang..... i think thanos since weve seem the infinty gaunlet....(save doom or galactus for the fourth if they ever get the rights back and do a fourth one lol [fingers crossed], but i have a feeling it will be loki controlling hulk with help from enchantress and her bodyguard (forget his name), shoot i would love to see the wrecking crew

I like anything I hear about this movie...

and The hulk will be a threat FOR SURE at first...(that's his whole schtick is having "uncontrollable rage" lol)

Now I'm actually thinkin they may reference several villains maybe.. I'm hopin Red Skull and Loki or My true dream of the Avengers villain was actually...

THE LEADER using a psychic link/control over the ABOMINATION AND HULK...That sounds like a pretty big threat to me, but it could be Loki too!

hopefully it's not just Loki tho controllin HULK...seems a little simplistic to me...

the movie ( atleast the first half) plays out pretty much liek the origin of the Avengers in the comics. THor Fights the hulk cause Loki takes control of Hulk

Norton will be missed for sure, and I know they tried to work it out...but we all need to move on kids...

Sometimes couples just need to split, they're better off apart lol...

Norton at least got to show us how good he could've been in the Avengers. Maybe Marvel shouldn't have screwed him out of his writing credit...

Does anyone know what parts in the TIH script he wrote??? I'm really curious as to HOW MUCH input he had with that movie..

I have to say if only Thor fights the Hulk and not the Avengers as a team I will be SORELY DISAPPOINTED!!!

The rumours I am hearing about low budgets is really dampening my spirits for this movie and making me lose interest.

As an X-men fan I had to swallow that crap with the first movie, with Fox dropping the budget from 125 to a measly 75 million. That's to be expected from Fox but not from Marvel Studios with their own beloved tentpole franchise.

This movie is more than just Avengers, it's also:
THE INCREDIBLE HULK 1.5
THOR 1.5
CAPTAIN AMERICA 1.5
and most significantly IRON MAN 2.5!!!

If IM2 can have a budget of 200 million then this deserves a budget of at least that, preferably 250 million.

If anyone from Marvel Studios can hear me. DO NOT SKIMP ON THE BUDGET FOR THIS MOVIE!!! This absolutely has to be the most spectacular movie of all time! Only to be beaten by Avengers 2 and other sequels! Do not do this to us! Your fans deserve a spectacle of the appropriate magnitude.

I just hope he's good. He'll have to be amazing if he wants to convince me that he's a good Hulk, especially after Norton totally rocked in the role.

I just hope they give Hulk more dialog in the movie. Maybe go into the relationship between Hulk and Banner. They did the Banner wanting to get rid of it, but in the comics Hulk is his own person and Id like to see a bit of that.

I've only heard one rumor about The Avengers having a low budget. It's just a rumor. There's no way that Marvel would skimp out on their baby.

Ed Norton did not write enough to warrant credit, and that's according to the Writer's Guild of America. He changed some dialogue in the script and added one or two scenes. He also deleted some stuff, including Rick Jones and SHIELD's presence. He tried to change more but Marvel didn't want it. And that was the beginning of their problems.

I'm watching THE INCREDIBLE HULK right now and had to pause it to say this;. Norton hasn't even turned into the HULK yet and his portrayal as Banner only is carrying the story. I'm like, oh shit, he's the HULK too! That's pretty good for a comicbook movie- getting lost in the story following the character and the fireworks haven't even started. This, Ruffalo, as this quality as an actor? As banner? Anyway, are they at least keeping the same Thunderbolt and Blonsky?

loki controlling the hulk the way he did the destroyer will be amazing because all that power hulk has and in thor how easily he beat all his opponents proves the power hulk will have if thor needs help from the rest of the team
