BATMAN AND ROBIN Star George Clooney Elaborates On His Feelings Towards The DC Film: "I Was Terrible In It"

George Clooney was recently the subject of a GQ feature, and along with recalling the time he gifted $14 million to his friends in fourteen duffel bags, the actor has also reflected on his much-maligned performance in 1997's Batman and Robin.

Widely considered the worst version of the Dark Knight, Clooney has never shied away from acknowledging his failings. But is it fair to slate the DC Comics adaptation when so many worked so hard on making it?

"The only way you can honestly talk about things is to include yourself and your shortcomings in those things," Clooney admitted. "Like, when I say Batman & Robin's a terrible film, I always go, 'I was terrible in it.'"

The actor believes that being #1 on the call sheet means he has the ability to open up about the film's failing as much of the blame ultimately lies at his feet.

"But also because then it allows you the ability to say, 'Having said I sucked in it, I can also say that none of these other elements worked, either.' You know? Lines like "Freeze, Freeze!'"

While Batman and Robin is frequently hated on by fans, many have praised it for embracing the campiness of the 1960s TV series and making a film Batman movie that was suitable for younger audiences. In terms of toy sales, it was also a hit for Warner Bros. in the late 1990s.
