BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN Star Josh Duhamel Unsure About Returning As Two-Face In Live-Action (Exclusive)

Josh Duhamel steals the show as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman: The Long Halloween, and the Jupiter's Legacy alum talks to us here about the possibility of reprising the role in a live-action setting...

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2 is set to be released on Digital on July 27 (today!), and Blu-ray on August 10, and after that stellar first instalment, there's a lot of excitement about how the story will wrap up. It goes without saying that the cast is phenomenal, and Josh Duhamel's portrayal of Harvey Dent has really struck a chord with fans (his take on Two-Face is even more amazing).

While we had the actor on the phone last week - you can check out the full interview later this week - we had to ask whether portraying a live-action version of this iconic Batman villain would be of interest.

"I don’t know," he admitted. "It’s been done a few times, and it’s been done well. I would certainly consider it. It just depends on who is involved and if they’d even want me!" With that, Duhamel went on to talk about how The Long Halloween gave him the opportunity to take a deep dive into Harvey's transformation into Two-Face. "Typically in these stories, you don’t see how he became this menacing villain. He was just Harvey Dent and then he was Two-Face."

"[In this movie] you kind of get an insight into why he became this and some of the psychological problems and issues he had at home, not to mention the pressures of work...it all becomes a little too much and there are all these factors that lead to it," the actor continues. "This is a train heading down the track and it’s just a matter of time before he completely cracked. It wasn’t until his face became all burnt up from the acid Two-Face really came to the forefront, but who knows? Do you think he would have become this guy had he not been deformed by this acid? It’s interesting, right?"

It certainly is, and as we explained in our review, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two does an amazing job of delving into what leads to the former District Attorney becoming a full-blown baddie.

Duhamel's portrayal is a layered and interesting one, and we'd love to see what he could do with Harvey in live-action (he certainly has the right look to play Harvey - special effects can help with the transformation into Two-Face!). There are currently no solid plans for the villain to return on film or television as far as we know, but he could possibly factor into a sequel to The Batman

For some reason at times it feels off when Duhamel voices Dent (for example when he talks a little fast), but most of the time it's on point.

As for live-action, I wouldn't mind seeing Duhamel in the role really. I can see him and Pattinson have a solid chemistry.

Peak Two-Face/Harvey Dent stories.

It was interesting to see what happened to him in Hush as well, maaan Loeb did some good stuff with his character over the years.

Worth a mention are also Batman One Year Later and of course....TDKR!

Wouldn't be a bad choice. He does a good job voicing him already.

IDK TDK did that pretty well. I feel like most Two-Face stories show his origin...

SPOILERS

Watched last night - thought Josh Duhamel was FANTASTIC as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Hadn't read TLH for a long ass time but Part 2 was super different from what I remember. Took me by surprise after the first part was so faithful.

Either way I really enjoyed it. Honestly, the ending was a bit too long. And Gilda should've gotten away clean like in the book imo.

@regularmovieguy - I think her getting caught shows the progress Batman makes from being a shitty detective to a more competent one, which is something they emphasized more in the first part. By letting her go it also shows a side of his humanity / guilt that Batman others so rarely see.

@Himura

Yeah, they were definitely going for a more inexperienced Batman in terms of solving a crime scene.

The backstory for Gilda just seemed a little contrived/mastermind-y. It definitely lended itself to a more feminist edge that last little scene with her just didn’t stick the landing imo.

I remember thinking the ending to the graphic novel was perfect, and creepy the way it was handled.

But I do get what they were going for 👍🏻 And for the most part this story is a great addition to the DC animated library.

Enjoyed the film, the first 15-20 min can be a little confusing if you aren't paying close attention(that would be my only gripe) but overall enjoyed part 2 and wouldn't mind seeing Josh as Dent in live action

Arron Eckhart was the closest thing to a good two face but was a wasted villain in the Nolan films. Could’ve been a good villain cameo for the Dark Knight Rises instead of Scarecrow. All other versions of two face’s never lived up to the Batman the Animated series two face.

Just watched, yeah it was damn good.
Dunno why they changed Gilda's motivation tho, pretty f*cked up.

I liked him as Dent but he really took it up a notch when he turned into Two Face

He was so [frick]ING good. Wasn’t sure if they got a different actor for Two-Face or what but he had it down pat.

What a voice performance.

Might be an odd choice, but I think that Hayden Christensen would make for a good Harvey Dent, especially in Pattinson's The Batman movie universe.

I know Hayden got criticized for being wooden in his most popular role in the Star Wars prequels, but if you watch anything else he's been in he's actually a good actor. I think he has the presence and the charisma to be a good younger Harvey Dent.
