First off let me start by saying "Thank You", for clicking on this editorial. Today I want to discuss something that has been on all our minds and thats "The Dark Knight Rises" set pics that have been released throughout the recent weeks. A few weeks ago director Chritopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale held a press conference in Pittsburgh, announcing the recent filming of TDKR. As you would have suspected fans were filled with joy and excitment. And so was I. As production commenced we were granted very tedious set pics. Then another, then another, then another, and then a motherload of set pictures. Now with all these set pics, one would assume that most fans would be rejoiced and use that famous expression "I just jizzed in my pants". But reactions were quite opposite than what I would have expected suspected. Thus a cloud of what I call "Fanboy Rage" took horizon.
Now let me go on by stating this I am not what people call a "DC Fanboy" or a so called "Nolanite" (gosh I hate that word). As a matter of fact I love comics in general no matter which publisher they are from. But I feel like I just have to get on this DC bandwagon for just a bit. First let me reiterate that these are "UNOFFICAL SET PICS". That means that these photos in which we are so lucky to get were in no way for us to see and base judgment on the film. I have read comments across the internet reading that this movie will bomb due to the quality of these pictures. Now as I stated these are unoffical set pics meaning that what we are seeing may not make the final cut. For example the newley released pics of the so called "Batwing". As of now we do not know what this scrap of metal is, nor do we know if this is the final product. There is still the possibility that there will be some CGI work added to it. Although we are well aware Mr. Nolan is not known for CGI, this is the final installment of his Dark Knight saga, so lets go out with a BANG!
Now lets go on to another picture that has shook up the fans and divided them within the past few days. And thats the Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman pictures.
So as we can see the beautiful Anne Hathaway has dressed up as the infamous Catwoman on Batman's batpod. This photo alone has gotten a bombard of negative reactions from the fans. So far as to having Anne Hathaway her self do some good ol DAMAGE CONTROL. Looking at the photo we see a Anne in a nice leather (or whatever the hell it is) suit with some ridiculous googles on. Many fans are outraged of the absence of the cowl. And I myself am a little bothered. But is it at the extent in which I curse this film to the Gods and completley lose faith in this movie and of man knid. Hmmm......Naahh! Because like I said before this movie is still in production things can still change. Who said there will be no cowl? And besides all we see of the suit really is the side of it and the back of it. Mrs. Hathaway said it her self "You have only seen one tenth of what the suit can do.". So with whatever the hell that means, we the fans still dont have a general knowledge of what Catwoman is like in the film. Not to mention fans should be aware of Nolan's alternate take of Batman's villans. For insatnce the unforgettable Heath Ledger's Joker as depicted in "The Dark Knight".
So to close off my constant rambling I personally belive that the fans faith in this movie should not be tarnished by the few set pics taken by an amateur on his/her cellphone. Are we entitled to our own opinons? Of course. Now if you may not like the upcoming film, then yeah thats fine. Do what you do playa! But to go on by saying such things as; "This movie suck balls", "Nolan needs to rot in hell", or my favorite " I have lost all hope in this movie due to the set pictures. Now excuse me I am going in my fathers shed and getting a shotgun to kill myself". (And yes I have seen that last comment on the web.) Its kind of ridiculous and down right absurd. Can this movie suck? Why yes it can! But after all look at Christopher Nolan's track record. Do we really think that he's going to run this franchise to the ground with The Dark Knight Rises? And with that closing question I say once again thank you for reading and please leave me any suggestion on how to improve my editorials. This is my first. Excelsior!
