EDITORIAL: The Dark Knight Rises Fan Outrage!

With all the rampant news coming from the "The Dark Knight Rises", there are many people who are outraged with Christopher Nolans take of the Batman mythology. But is this rage justified? Hit the jump button.

First off let me start by saying "Thank You", for clicking on this editorial. Today I want to discuss something that has been on all our minds and thats "The Dark Knight Rises" set pics that have been released throughout the recent weeks. A few weeks ago director Chritopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale held a press conference in Pittsburgh, announcing the recent filming of TDKR. As you would have suspected fans were filled with joy and excitment. And so was I. As production commenced we were granted very tedious set pics. Then another, then another, then another, and then a motherload of set pictures. Now with all these set pics, one would assume that most fans would be rejoiced and use that famous expression "I just jizzed in my pants". But reactions were quite opposite than what I would have expected suspected. Thus a cloud of what I call "Fanboy Rage" took horizon.

Now let me go on by stating this I am not what people call a "DC Fanboy" or a so called "Nolanite" (gosh I hate that word). As a matter of fact I love comics in general no matter which publisher they are from. But I feel like I just have to get on this DC bandwagon for just a bit. First let me reiterate that these are "UNOFFICAL SET PICS". That means that these photos in which we are so lucky to get were in no way for us to see and base judgment on the film. I have read comments across the internet reading that this movie will bomb due to the quality of these pictures. Now as I stated these are unoffical set pics meaning that what we are seeing may not make the final cut. For example the newley released pics of the so called "Batwing". As of now we do not know what this scrap of metal is, nor do we know if this is the final product. There is still the possibility that there will be some CGI work added to it. Although we are well aware Mr. Nolan is not known for CGI, this is the final installment of his Dark Knight saga, so lets go out with a BANG!

Now lets go on to another picture that has shook up the fans and divided them within the past few days. And thats the Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman pictures.

So as we can see the beautiful Anne Hathaway has dressed up as the infamous Catwoman on Batman's batpod. This photo alone has gotten a bombard of negative reactions from the fans. So far as to having Anne Hathaway her self do some good ol DAMAGE CONTROL. Looking at the photo we see a Anne in a nice leather (or whatever the hell it is) suit with some ridiculous googles on. Many fans are outraged of the absence of the cowl. And I myself am a little bothered. But is it at the extent in which I curse this film to the Gods and completley lose faith in this movie and of man knid. Hmmm......Naahh! Because like I said before this movie is still in production things can still change. Who said there will be no cowl? And besides all we see of the suit really is the side of it and the back of it. Mrs. Hathaway said it her self "You have only seen one tenth of what the suit can do.". So with whatever the hell that means, we the fans still dont have a general knowledge of what Catwoman is like in the film. Not to mention fans should be aware of Nolan's alternate take of Batman's villans. For insatnce the unforgettable Heath Ledger's Joker as depicted in "The Dark Knight".

So to close off my constant rambling I personally belive that the fans faith in this movie should not be tarnished by the few set pics taken by an amateur on his/her cellphone. Are we entitled to our own opinons? Of course. Now if you may not like the upcoming film, then yeah thats fine. Do what you do playa! But to go on by saying such things as; "This movie suck balls", "Nolan needs to rot in hell", or my favorite " I have lost all hope in this movie due to the set pictures. Now excuse me I am going in my fathers shed and getting a shotgun to kill myself". (And yes I have seen that last comment on the web.) Its kind of ridiculous and down right absurd. Can this movie suck? Why yes it can! But after all look at Christopher Nolan's track record. Do we really think that he's going to run this franchise to the ground with The Dark Knight Rises? And with that closing question I say once again thank you for reading and please leave me any suggestion on how to improve my editorials. This is my first. Excelsior!

Dude you need to proofread your articles. There are some spelling and grammar errors. Other than that, pretty solid. By any chance are you the same guy who wrote that exaggerating article last week predicting that the amazing spider-man would be the biggest box-office bomb in CM history?"

Thanks bro but no that was not me. I actually I think that The Amazing Spiderman is going to be the best Spiderman to date. And I did do some proof reading I dont know why it did not change when I submitted it.

@BooYah LOl No I just wanted to get this off my chest. I would do the same for the Avengers but we have not seen any set pics yet.

I liked everything I've seen and heard so far. Confident this will be amazing, Nolan seems to have found the correct thematic conclusion.

Let me say this, fanboys need to shut up.

No movie is perfect, no movie will stick entirely true to the source material. If the fanboys really want their CBM to stick close to the comics, then why isn't the X-men movies hated on? Hmmm?

I laugh at the people who are criticizing this movie. First off, its PRE-[frick]ING-PRODUCTION. Jesus, this movie doesn't open up for another year! We haven't even gotten a theatrical trailer yet, or a plot line description. God. And really all the hate is coming off of this site. A few early set pics aren't going to affect the movie's box office earnings.

Jesus people.

And yes I agree with the part in the article where those comments are absurd and idiotic. The movie doesn't open for a long ass time and I'm more than confident taht the end result will be flippin' satisfying.

@HailToTheKing

Because there isn't any news on the Ghost Rider movie, and people are now under the assumptions that all DC movies are failing (god, I know I can use that Red Skull clip somewhere).

I like that banner. I think you should add "Into the darkness." under where it says ...He will fall. that would just be totally awesome.

@Rh0k The banners not mine. I found it on deviant art. Check out the site and search The Dark Knight Rises, they have an amazing gallery of fan art especially for Bane.

@Justsomeawesomeguy
True, the movie will indeed turn out good; but that doesn't mean it is above criticism and anyone who complain about a specifc thing would be deemed an idiot.

Really, the one thing that isn't impressing me with this movie is Bane; I'm sure the story with this character will be fine, but my expectations of his apperance by far isn't all that imposing in my opinion.

cable23 - 8/12/2011, 9:32 PM
@BigK1337 I agree with you this movie is not above any type of criticism. But the comments I have been reading within the past few weeks, people act like Uwe Boll and Joel Schumacher are directing this. Its almost as if Nolan did not make The Dark Knight and did not become one of the highest grossing movies of all time.

BigK1337 - 8/12/2011, 9:44 PM
@Cable23

With that reply, I have to really agree with you on there. It is okay to criticize Nolan's methods of filming, but going as far as to say the third movie will be ruined is really ridiculous.

I mean worst case scenario here is that the movie will probably end up like Return of the Jedi, not better than the last movie but still great to watch.
sonofsamadams
sonofsamadams - 8/12/2011, 9:46 PM
@Cable23

Yeah you got that right.

Its pre-production. They're still making this movie. They've only filmed only a dozen scenes. There are hundreds more to be filmed. That's thousands of takes right there. People who complain about Bane's voice need to understand that people would have complained about Vader's voice before James Earl Jones dubbed it if a video was leaked of that. Bane's voice will be dubbed over since Tom Hardy can't speak clearly through the mask. No movie is above criticism. Every movie will have that ONE group of people that dislike it. Everything is criticized. Thats how the human race operates.

I have no clue what's going on with some fanboy's on this site. Whine whine whine..it's getting to the point where I don't want to come on here anymore, mainly cus I know the first thing that will happen is someone bitching for no reason than to bitch. Knowing full well the stuff will look totally different on screen, and they will see the movie anyway.

Marvel shills try everything they can to make up for lost years that DC was owning marvel. Now they're in a good situation when DC is just now getting on their feet by trying to get new characters on screen. TDKR will exceed expections, and critical do well where it counts. Fanboys only from Marvel won't except the fact that Marvel hasn't produced anything worth an oscar yet.

I am so frickin tired of all this complaining because this movie will be great. This film will be epic. This is Chris frickin Nolan we are talking about. Every single one of his films are great, so why would he stop now? He is the kind of filmmaker that actually cares about his job and puts a lot of thought into everything he does. The teaser trailer said that this would be the EPIC CONCLUSION to the Batman movies. Stop whining an d have faith in Nolan he knows what he is doing.

Ryguy88 - 8/13/2011, 10:23 AM
Marvel72, why do you criticize it? You didn't like the first two so why would you have your hopes up for this one? You're just a troll looking for trouble. I haven't been praising these set photos as they are just set photos. I think they are cool and what not but nothing to gt too excited for. In the end however, I do think that this will be a very good movie as Nolan's track record is better than any other director working today.

I'm not a batman fan but I don't see anything wrong with TDKR. Just wacth when the movie comes out and see how many people complain then.

@MARVEL72
We go to the movies to be entertained...not to be an @$$.
But more or less, every Batman article I read you hate on it, which is fine with me. Everyone has their own opinion. And even though some people hate on him and say his films are overrated...there still good movies. He is a man that gets what he wants, and ecerything turns out fine. People hate on Sam Raimi for Spider-man 3, but the studio had a lot more to do with the movies flop than he did. Now corredct me if i'm wrong, but directors don't get to make the story. And that privlidge is what Nolan has.

@Cable23

Good for you not letting yourself get swept into this hysteria. The set pics etc look rubbish because they are. Cinema is all smoke and mirrors, it only really looks good in the final product because it was all orchestrated for that one specific shot.

Cat woman looks bland. I was entirely underwhelmed but I think Nolan will do amazing things with the character and that's more important to me.

Nolan does tend to steer clear of CGI but he knows when and how to use it. Just look at Inception.

(one tip, don't use a marvel sign-off for a DC article.)

First off thank you people for those who do understand the film making process and thank you for this.Most people either love or hate what Nolan has done if you don't then don't look at the low grade pics and bad video or go see the movie if you want these characters in their classic costumes get over to the studio and get your check and make a movie until then shut your pie holes.Bringing a comicbook character to the screen is not that easy and Nolan has done great his is far better then Marvel's Daredevil or McFarlens Spawn.So love it or hate it those movies like TDKR are here and you can go see them or not but I will.
