Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub from Collider had a chance to talk with actress Emily Blunt while she was promoting her latest film, an upcoming science fiction thriller, The Adjustment Bureau. One question he asked was about her involvement in numerous superhero films including Iron Man 2, Superman reboot, The Dark Knight Rises and why we still haven't seen her in any. Below is a video and the transcript:

I've been offered certain parts, [but] either through scheduling or it just not being quite the right thing for me I haven’t done them. But I think for me, being in some kind of superhero movie it just has to be the right time and the right thing. I’m not prepared to sign onto many movies at one time.

On would she ever sign a nine picture deal:

Not really. I just can’t, I don’t wanna do that. I think the joy of the job for me is the about the unknown and “who knows what’s coming next” so to feel like I’m straight-jacketed in some way might be tricky. But at the same time, I love what they do and I think that they make amazing superhero movies. So if something came along that was right, I would definitely consider it.

Her latest film, The Adjustment Bureau is set to hit theatres on March 4.

[frick] marvel, just bring your pretty behind and sexy accent over to the Superman reboot! Heck we got a British Supes, we can get a British Lois to fill the void.

And then I can fill HER void =D

@Reasonnnn: Yes, she would've. Hopefully Whedon can get a decent performance out of Scarlett in Avengers (she was pretty much a wasted paycheck in IM2).

Can't wait to see The Adjustment Bureau.

In Australia we have a saying...

Coulda Woulda Shoulda

This matters not because if she was gonna be black widow, and I will have to swallow my pride to say this but yes she would have made a great Black Widow compared to Scarlett, but really if the plot played out the same way, then we would have still only seen her very minimally, only problem is that being in Avengers would mean a multiple picture deal which she said she doesn't entertain the idea of due being straight-jacketed to something, so therefore I also highly doubt her to agreeing to be Lois as well, because again this will mean multiple pictures, sure like she says for her to bite the bullet and sign for one, it will have to be something that feels right to her.

P.S. Iron Man 2 was only an introduction for the Black Widow, knowing how Joss has handled a multiple storied/main characters plots in the past, I'm quite confident he will give ample time to the Russian spy, this wont be like other superhero films in the past where that kind of character has been in the background and forgotten til the end fight scene in a blink and you'll miss it fight, she will have greater time in this due to the no need for any introductions.

Acting wise she would've done a WAY better job as Black Widow than ScarJo & I LOVE Scarlett. We could've at least gotten the Russian accent.

Say, isn't BLACK WIDOW a tall tough RUSSIAN
SPY-WOMAN. SCARJO is 5'4" and dull acting as
a stump! That's probably why RYAN left her!
She is just so painfully DULL! All she has
going is big boobs and they've taken her
farther in "THE BIZ" than I thought they would!

EMILY would've been perfect!
She can ACTUALLY ACT!

I'm still hoping for Lois Lane.

She could play Lois really..although i still think Teri Hatcher as Lois was the best; especially when they changed her look to short hair. Something about that show Lois & Clark really worked, it wasn't a great show by any means but I feel like Teri played Lois perfectly.

The Joy is "who know's whats coming next"?

If I were her I'd subscribe to the Samuel L. Jackson get that dough mindset.

Crossing my fingers that she finds the right role. She wouldn't made a great Black Widow, but oh well. It could be worth the wait! :)

No actress would've been able to pull off Black Widow in Iron Man 2, the character was so poorly written and inconsequential to the movie. They should've just left her out altogether. That being said, Scarlett was terrible. She moved around that movie like a blow up doll.

Scarlett was just fine by me as the Black Widow. She could eat crackers in my bed anytime of course I would eat her anytime. I think Miss Blunt was or is trying to get in the next Batman movie. She would be a blunt worth smoking anytime. Most of these actresses are worth a roll in the hay, that is why they are in Hollywood or the movies. LOL Wait until Jamie Alexander hits the screen in Thor, you might forget about Natalie (pregnant) Portman and Kat Dennings.

Hang on a minute people are suggesting that SALLY FIELD play the mother figure for TWO superhero franchises?

Are you CRAZY?????

Look, i know actors have doubled up before in superhero films, but not like that, that just isnt gonna work, even on its best day.

My suggestions for Martha would be Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, or maybe even Shelley Long.

@tlarz85: Your fan cast is perfect except for Lana Lang. She shouldn't be plain Caucasian 'cuz her name would contradict that. She should be mixed like .. you know who, lol.

@australiancomicbookmoviefan - My bad. I'm not really into the Spider Man reboot so I didn't know about Sally Fields in it. I'll find another Martha!

@thegreek - Watch The Tudors to check out Cavil

@Jer3mian - Lana was a caucasian red head in the comics and I think that's what Snyder is going to follow. I like Kristen too though!
