The opening scene from the Gotham pilot, which aired the other night on Fox, featured Bruce Wayne getting a front row seat to the murder of his parents, Martha and Dr. Thomas Wayne. Their deaths traumatized young Bruce Wayne, but it also gave birth to Batman. I actually prefer the Gotham version the best. It's the one that has Bruce showing the most emotion and even though it's been bagged for sounding girly, I think his scream at the end is a nice touch, it's fear, sadness, anger and rage all rolled into one emotive moment. The Batman Begins one always felt a little hollow to me and although Tim Burton's one looked good stylistically, I can't get past the fact they made The Joker the killer (even though I love his "devil in the pale moonlight" line).

I didn't like the Gotham one, because even though Mazouz gave a great performance, there was no f'ing reason for Chill to shoot the Waynes!

In Begins, Thomas gave the impression he was fighting back. I've had my car stolen at gunpoint, and I know the one thing one should be careful of, is to not seem like they are going to do something stupid.

But in Gotham... I guess if it does turn out that it was a planned hit, I'll kinda be ok with it.

I think Begins and Gotham were the two best. Both orchestrated a bit differently but both have the same end result which no other version had. This wasn't just a robbery, it was an assassination. I think if you put the kid from Gotham in Batman Begins and vice versa with the parents there would be no contest though which is why I like both because each one had good actors in either the role of the parents or Bruce. That being said the Batman 1989 one reminded me how bad that movie was! We all definitely had excited blinders on for that piece of crap! Lol

I got the impression that Bruce wasn't real happy with the way he reacted to his parents being murdered in front of his eyes, scream and all. Something tells me he'll spend the rest of his life punishing himself for it. Honestly, the stuff some dorks complain about is ridiculous.

What do you guys think 12 year olds sound like when they scream?? They sound exactly like that. That scream was powerful, emotional, visceral, and real. Major props to the actor whats his name. I love that despite small variations the murder of the Waynes hasnt changed much over time. Thats good, it doesnt need to.
