The Batman director Matt Reeves has now confirmed that Jeffrey Wright (
Westworld, Hold the Dark) will play one of The Dark Knight's most trusted allies in his upcoming film.
The trades did already report that Wright had signed on (or was close to signing on) for the role of Jim Gordon, but Reeves made it official with a Tweet on Wednesday night, having previously done the same for
Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne), Paul Dano (The Riddler) and
Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman).
The fact that Reeves is only just confirming this news may suggest that the deal wasn't actually finalized until now. Either way, this won't come as much of a surprise to anyone after Wright was one of the first actors mentioned in connection with the movie, but it's still nice to see that the cast is now coming together.
As far as we know, the only main charactesr left to be cast are Alfred and
The Penguin, although several other Bat-baddies have also been rumored to appear.
The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
