Christopher Nolan Discusses The Dark Knight Rises

At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival the director fielded a few brief questions about his upcoming threequel, including where he got the title from and whether Anne Hathaway would be playing Catwoman, or just Selina Kyle..

Last night Nolan was presented with the Modern Master Award for Inception at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Comingsoon.net were in attendance and took note of the following.

When asked where he got the title(TDKR) from Nolan joked..

"I banged my head against the wall. We've worked on it a long time - David Goyer and myself. We're about 12 weeks away from shooting. We start in May."

So there you go, May, not March as was suggested by the Bucharest news reports we saw the other day. Nolan was then asked why he ultimately decided to make this third Batman film, as he was always unsure if he would return to the franchise. He said: "It was about finishing the story"

Next Nolan was asked if Anne Hathaway would be suiting up as Catwoman or remain plain old Selina Kyle but he just smiled coyly and wouldn't say a word.

The git! It appears that famous Nolan secrecy will keep us guessing about that one for a little longer. TDKR is scheduled to hit theatres July 20th 2012.

Shouldn't this non-article be headed 'Christopher Nolan says nothing of any interest about The Dark Night Rises'?

Why is this on main?

Editor posted it, I post here so infrequently here yet its one of the first things I notice is how if Andrew Garfield gets a hair cut we get a headline reading "Spiderman gets a complete makeover for the new film!", Let the babies have their bottle we have plenty of non editors who contribute actual substance.

Headline shouldve been "Nolan quickly answers what inspired the naming of TDKR", even thats a stretch though.

That isnt a shot at any 1 editor or member in general either before my jugular receives attention, more so a general observation that Ive found occurs far too often on too many peoples parts.

This story has been posted on many sites, not just CBM. It confirms the shoot date is May, not March and its just a gauge of Nolan's reaction to being asked about Catwoman. No, nothing spectacular, but they can't all be. If you don't like it, you don't have to comment. Or better yet, actually contribute something perhaps?

Honestly, I'd prefer a title more original than "The Dark Knight Rises", but as long as the movie itself is good, I'll have no complaints.

And of course Anne Hathaway will be in the suit. Nolan is not a cruel man!

Geez, guys. Maybe Ror should just break into Nolan's house, steal the script, and post it on-line. Would that satisfy you, or would you prefer to offer him a blindfold and a cigarette before you all pull the trigger?

@grif You really want a reboot after Nolan has made Batman Begins and The dark Knight and is being acknowledged by everybody after Inception. I mean just because whether Catwoman is in the movie that is just a lame excuse I'm actually pretty pumped to see Nolan's interpretation of the character. Also come on you are going to have Tom Hardy as Bane, after seeing him in Bronson and Inception I knew he be perfect for a Nolan Bat-Flick. I think though the Bat needs to rest for at least 10 years after this movie, He is my favorite superhero but lets not get carried away with continuously making reboots.

Are you guys f*cking serious? Complaining an article got on main. "Oh no there's no news here I'm gonna go throw a hissy fit cause no one gives a damn when I post" I'm sorry guys what major stories have you broke again? That's right you're forgetting the fact that RoR also posted who the new Superman was, oh and the shortlist he beat to get that role, OH and the next potential Bond villain. Oh yeah and this was all in one day wasn't it, but you guys are right that's not REALLY news is it? Now I know this is a radical thought but if you guys don't like what you see here then go out and look for some real f*cking news, articulate a decent f*cking article and an opinion worth listening to, and gain some f*cking respect. Go f*ck yourselves.

Any news about TDKR is worth posting. Face it, people may complain about what bits of news we do get, but it's Nolan, you're not going to get anything else. And I for one am fine with that. At least there'll be no script floating about the internet and ruining the entire film for you (such as the alleged Avengers script).

And I agree with WorldsGreatestdetective - Why reboot? The series hasn't cocked up yet (as was the case with Spider-Man, Fantastic Four etc.).

The churnalism style of reporting is annoying but its quick and painless. Articles like this are frustrating because it tells you [frick] all but atleast it says a little about when it's filming and how Nolan is keeping hush hush on everything. At least RorMachine is actually being active and reporting on what little information is available to him, and at least he's not ranting about things we've already been told. Are you actually trying to say it's wrong to take information and quotes from other sources?!?
