More Info On Third Batman Movie, Flash And Wonder Woman To Follow?

While interviewing Warner Bros president, Jeff Robinov, The New York Times get quotes from Christopher Nolan and mention what DC Entertainment may have planned next...

Some sites are citing this as confirmation of the next movie but until we see an official press release I'm treating it as further speculation. Anyway, here are the excerpts from the article in which, while interviewing Nolan about working with Robinov, they seem to confirm the next Batman picture and later let it slide that Flash or Wonder Woman might be one of the next DC characters they focus their lenses on.

"He is trying not to cling to the things that have worked in the past," said Christopher Nolan, who directed "The Dark Knight" and is working on another Batman sequel....

The Walt Disney Company's $4 billion purchase of Marvel Entertainment just over a month ago has increased the pressure on Warner to succeed this time. Warner is expected to announce a DC slate in the coming months populated by characters like the Flash and Wonder Woman."

This sounds to me like it could just be speculation on the interviewer's part after yesterdays announcements that the third Batman film was in the works with Jonah Nolan and David Goyer on board to cowrite the script, and that Christopher Nolan would be over seeing the latest Superman movie. But, either way, with all of these stories popping up, expect official confirmation soon.

I have a question. Why DC dosen't do big time hero movie?Like Wonder Woman or Flash.I don't say a Justice League movie. But Marvel right now do the big time heroes.

This is great news. I also like the picture of Batman and Wonder Woman. Hey how come Bruce has never fricked Diana? Superman aint going to do it because he has always loved and is married to Lois.

Here's hoping that DC/WB finally pull their fingers out and start making some superhero movies! Superman is a good place to start though!

Im all for a justice league movie, but only if they dont get separate actors. Dc superheroes need big names to help support them. Marvel has RDJ ed norton, and whoever they get to play cap. Thats y the avengers movie is such a big deal is because it will feature all of these actors. Also i agree dc needs to hurry up and make a wonder woman and flash movie!! But they need to make them well, cuz marvel characters are more interesting then most of the justice league. So they need to reel in views that way.

I remember a comment from someone at Warners that when Nolan decides what to do with Batman 3, then other CBM's will follow.

I really hope we see Flash and Wonder Woman films in the near future. They have great potential.

But really, Superman should be their #1 priority.

And also, does all this news of Nolan being the "godfather" of the Superman franchise mean that his Batman is going to tie into their universes?

@angelo
yes and no. yes because the slate of movies will be more vast in the characters but it could also mean a dumbing down of material because they want to produce quantity rather than quality. only time will tell.

I just hope its all true. You would think with all the rumors someone from Warner's would have made a statement by now. This article is really just to show that its still being talked about..I was very wary of posting it as confirmation although certain other sites have done so, maybe they know something we don't!

DannyRand: "PS-
Its interesting this Nolan "Godfather" thing, because in interviews he's stated that Batman is the only comic book character that he really connected with. Perhaps this has changed...

He's also been quite reluctant to any crossover possibility with His Batman."

That's what I'm wondering too. Hasn't Nolan stated that his Batman isn't part of the universe that Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. are? Perhaps he really has changed his stance on that, and perhaps that could lead to Bale actually being a part of the Justice League, provided he isn't too old by that time, and he gets rid of the garbage disposal voice ;)

RorMachine thanks for the 411..sounds like it has promise.

One question though.....it was said by the interviewe.
"The Walt Disney Company's $4 billion purchase of Marvel Entertainment just over a month ago has increased the pressure on Warner to succeed this time."

Warner and DC haven't succeeded?.... What planet are you from?

Is Christopher Nolan gonna be the Jon Fav of the DC Universe? Gonna make all these movies connect to a justice league movie...well at least a guy can hope right

I think that the interviewer is making a reference to the lack of staying power that the DC movies have had and to the many negative comments on sites like these that many fans have had for the lackluster performance of some of the DC properties, aside from the Batman franchise of course. Not that the Marvel characters have all had booming performances but they do seem to have had better luck.

Just like you said, at least it's being talked about.

I think there will be some official news soon. DC needs to step up and reclaim their chunk of the market. Once the Cap news dies down, DC will start making offical statements I think.

I'm very nervous about Wonder Woman, not many women in Hollywood could pull off the physicality of an amazon. I'm very afraid that the role will go to someone who is just too small and slight. One of my personal favorites for the role from the A-listers is Catherine Zeta-Jones. She's extremely athletic looking and also has the proper look, Caucasian with a hint of exotic.

Flash needs to be next, after a Supes reboot. but really, everyone knows who Superman is. if they wanted, they wouldn't even NEED to make a new superman movie to tie into the JLA, because he's so well known. (i would rather they did, but i don't think its absolutely necessary). they could just put him in the JLA movie and it would work fine.

personally, The Flash would be my next DC movie of choice!

If it's anything like marvel is doin with avengers it won't be all of em.. 3 maybe 4 batman and supes is already there..And "IF" nolan has anything to do with it the heroes makin most sense with him is Green Arrow and you have green lantern on the way.. A Nolanized JLA movie would be sick... I think..
