More On The Female Lead In Batman 3: New Info Leans Towards Catwoman

A very important piece of information was left out of the article from Moviehole that we previously reported on, which suggests that this new female lead might well be Selina Kyle, or as she is better known, Catwoman..

Of course it MIGHT be Catwoman, as it might well be anyone! But I noticed a very interesting piece of info from the article(read it here)
we posted was omitted and thought it was worth sharing. After revealing that Chris Nolan was on the lookout for his new female lead, Moviehole also said the following..

So who is Gotham’s new gal? Is it a replacement lover for Billionaire Bruce? Or is it – as my insider also suspects (but he can’t be sure; again, Nolan has the lid shut tight on this thing) – the oft-rumoured Catwoman? “Some of the beauties coming in to chat with Christopher, would suggest that”, we’re told.



This is all still just speculation based on the actresses in line for the role. If we knew who some of them were we could join in on that! But if the info I received a while ago, which suggested Selina Kyle appeared in the early script notes, was accurate, we could well see Batman go cape to claw with Catwoman. This would create an interesting dynamic as the character could be used as both love interest and villain. Anyway, like I said, nothing particularly solid on this one way or the other just yet. More updates as we have em.

So, my source was right about Tom Hardy being up for a role in Batman 3 and now it looks as if yours was as well regarding Catwoman. Not bad eh, ROR? :P

Well Ror, i can't speak for LEEE but i've always found Catwoman to be a bit "tame" as a character. I LOVED the gothicky/psychotic spin Burton brought to her but in the books... meh. I guess Catwoman to me is what Riddler is to you, bud ;)

But if Nolan DID choose to go with Catwoman, my choice would DEFINITELY be Carla Gugino :)

There have probably been more incarnations of Catwoman that any other Bat villain, even The Joker. She has been a prostitute, cat burglar, crime fighter, she has been rather tame as Shaman points out but then has also been a very well written and formidable opponent to Batman. Like every comic charter, it all depends on who is writing. In the case of The Riddler, for me no writer has ever so much as even attempted to make him interesting. Catwoman could be used in any number of ways by Nolan. She doesn't necessarily have to be a "woman in spandex" any more than the Riddler would HAVE to be a gurning [frick]witt like Jim Carrey played him. To me, a character like Selina Kyle actually makes a lot of sense after the fallout of TDK. We have yet to see the effect all of this madness has had on the average Gotham citizen, she could represent that very well. Being inspired by Batman to don a costume of some kind. I would be happy with Talia too though, as it would bookend the trilogy nicely.

I dont know if most of you people just simply dont like the character or if you feel like shes not the proper villain to introduce into a third movie...but I think Christopher Nolan has most certainly earned our respect and faith so can we please just keep an open mind here?

Ror- True, she's been written so many different ways that there is bound to be a version of her that i would like but haven't had a chance to find yet. I did "enjoy" her solo run pencilled by Jim Balent though! That's why i chose that outfit for my sketch, i had done a while back ;)

if its confirmed that Catwoman is in the movie it is simultaneously confirmed that their are at least two villains. I just can't imagine her carrying a movie by herself. He just doesn't have the threat level required.

Very doubtful she'll be playing a main villain role as she did in Returns. But you never know what Nolan can do with the character...I was totally upset about Heath being cast, and the Joker using face paint. But Nolan still WOWed me.
So I'll exercise a lil faith that he can do something great with Catwoman.

I would love to see a good representation of catwoman. Just the confusion she would bring to Bruces life can be very interesting. Batman being hunted by the cops worse than before makes her great for tipping his scale either way. Bringing Talia into this trilogy would be too much. Dealing with Ras legacy, his fugitive status and the loss of his only love interest so far would put him over the edge without even telling gothams story. Id rather see Riddler as the main villian the cops need batman for. Catwoman as a new love interest in and out the mask and Penguin as Bats only info source since he cant deal with the cops anymore.

Im a huge Batman fan and I think he has the best Rogue gallery in all of fiction. Im very well versed in Hush, Black Mask, Talia Al Ghul, and coutless other villians. I just think this would be the only way to progress the trilogy without going backward. PLEASE NO JOKER NO HARLEY!!!

I completely agree with you about Catwoman over Talia. And although its a very popular idea, and one that i share, that Riddler will be in Bat3, idk if its as a lock as you claim.

on Catwoman..

I'm guessing that if Selina Kyle is indeed in the movie, she will not become Catwoman. My thoughts are that she'll be introduced as a new mysterious girl for Bruce to chase, but i doubt she'll don the leather.

but more importantly..they better cast an absolute fox, because michelle pfeiffer was and is smoking hot.

I agree with INTRUDER. The Catwoman is an icon. She has damn near a 70 year old history that is complex to say the least. The love angle would be perfect for the film and add the RIDDLER to the mix and you've got one hell of a movie. If these two are the main villians I know exactly where Nolan is heading; which makes this a brilliant idea. I just hope that his SUPERMAN will have some serious action and some decent dialogue. That crap that Singer put up was downright awful. I don't want to see Lex Luthor in another Superman film ... dazzle us... expand the Rogues Gallery. Instead of being awful be.... awe inspiring!

This would be a good way to put a sort of love interest in Bruce's life in this film since Rachel is gone. I'd much prefer to see Catwoman than any other female character to balance it out. But who to play her?

With Nolans work on Inception, The Prestige, and Isomnia I think the riddler can and only should be done by Cris Nolan. Catwoman in the Nolan-verse would be different than anything weve seen B4 from her. Im sure he can make the suit work. The Penguin is not the greatest of Batmans villians obviously but someone has to play the background and with "freaks" taking over gotham an eccentric club owner and smuggler would fit. Physically he poses no match for Bruce but thats the point hes basically a street lever informer.

Damian should never hit film till we have at least 3 robins b4 hand. Your arguement for Talia over Selina is weak except for bringing back the league of shadows (assassians). Which would be going backward. If I see Talia I wanna see Ras which would incorperate Lazerus pits which would be supernatural which wouldnt be in the Nolanverse. Let the next director handle it be patient.

The cerebral aspect of Bats hasnt been tested. The best at those movies is Chris Nolan you couldnt even guess what hell do with that charictor neither can I but hes the perfict villin for a Detective mystery.

Great, if Catwoman is in it I'm gonna be pissed.

It's like putting Megan Fox in the original Transformers movie, pointless, just to distract us with sex and lust, taking away from the actual point of the movie.

You guys are [frick]ing shallow. All you want Catwoman for is to oogle at her. You can look on the internet for porn, not The Dark Knight Rises. What a waste of screen time. You might as well cast Megan Fox in that role since that's all Catwoman and Megan Fox are good for. Seriously guys, your male-ness amazes me.

Btw, if she beats up Batman in the film, I'm done with it. That would be ridiculous.
