Yahoo caught up with Josh Brolin recently and talks naturally turned to his almost portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman in Warner Bros. and Zack Snyders Upcoming yet untitled Superman/Batman movie.  About the role he told yahoo

Me and Zack had a conversation about it,And there were several reasons why we said it wasn’t the best idea on both sides. I had mine and Zack had his.

He went on to express his thoughts about the backlash that followed Ben Affleck's casting annoucement and how "disrespectful" he felt some of the responses were.

People were so disrespectful, How can you blame an actor for acting? I understand you’re a fan, but people forget that actors are human. When you’re sitting in front of a computer it’s easy to go, ‘Well, I wish he would die. Send.’ But somebody’s going to read that. Their kids are going to read it and the wife is going to read it. We’re so computer-oriented that we forget.

So what do you think of his comments? Would you have have preferered Josh Brolin in the role or have you come to terms (For those who were not with Ben Affleck) with Affleck as our current Caped Crusader? Sound off in the usual place!

Meh, Old Batman is a mistake by WB. Should have gone younger IMO. Affleck is fine, as he looks in his low 30s. Brolin looks in his mid to late 50s.

I wasn't around here on CBM when Reynolds was cast as GL. Were people using the Ledger/RDJ line back then too?

Affleck still can't act. He's a bland piece of white generic bread. Jesse is going to make him look inferior acting wise.

Josh Brolin is a great actor and he can play badass, but I can't see him as Bruce Wayne. I know it's weird, but he just looks unhealthy. I mean, Bruce is a healthy dude, he's a beast not just because he's big, but because he has an extremely orderly routine when it comes to training and taking care of himself. Josh Brolin looks like someone who wakes up drunk. I don't know, I just don't see him as Batman. I see him as a new Harvey Dent, though.

he's so right about the backlash. most of the comments are from stupid young dumb fawks anyways so who gives a fawk what they gotta say. everyone is a critic and critics are nothing but bitter bitches who can't do what the people they are criticizing are doing.

Green Lantern had a lot of problems, Ryan Reynolds wasn't one of them. Better script and direction and he could've been an awesome Hal Jordan. Just saying.

I hear ya, but think so many over-reactions to casting ever since the Internet, it does get a little crazy and before they even see one second of these people on film for the actual movie they're cast in...

The Ledger argument is just a symptom, the disease is people thinking their opinions about the process are important.

I'm not open minded about Affleck, Gadot and Eisenberg because I remember what happened to Heath Ledger, I'm open minded about them because I'm willing to respect the filmmakers vision and wait to judge after actually see the thing.

I'm a little more concerned about Affleck because I know him better and I'm not very convinced that he can play a terrifying figure like Batman, but that's ok. It's irrelevant to the movie.

Anyway, I personally can say that without hypocrisy, because I honestly don't care that much about casting, whatever the movie is. As long as it isn't something extremely bizarre like Megan Fox as Wonder Woman or extremely exciting like Idris Elba as Green Lantern/John Stewart (a rare fan casting that I can't see going wrong), I'm ok. Relax, wait and see. Not because people were wrong about Heath Ledger, but because the filmmakers have the right to do whatever they want with their movie, we can only judge the final product, not the process.

If they were going for older,grizzled Bats Brolin would be much,much better.
I wish they were doing a direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns..Brolin would be good choice in 10 yrs.

I think Affleck will do great too, I've always been a fan, but the movies he directed, Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo, ALL excellent, his acting was great in them too...so no worries from me, he's imposing physically, think he can play a suave Bruce, but think he'll surprise people with his intensity as Bats...just has to read all the Internet hate again for motivation (I am joking, he could probably give two shits about what most think)...look forward to the damn suit, batmobile, etc...

batz11 - 3/28/2014, 6:23 PM
I first didn't like the idea of Brolin, but seeing him in Gangster Squad (and other even better movies) he'd have been an incredibly intimidating Bats...his deal would be the Bruce side...I think he'd kill that too if given the chance...the duo roles are tough, think Leo in The Departed did it well, I still liked Bale as Bats/Wayne...we'll see if Affleck can do it or not, I think he can...as well as Brolin could have...

It's a pity that he didn't accept, I like the idea of Affleck as Batman, but I liked the idea of Brolin as Batman even more.

I hear he didn't accept on the off chance of having contact with his former wife (who plays Martha Kent) during production, it seems they didn't divorce on the best of terms.

I feel Brolin was too old looking for the role. Hopefully this proves my theory that by "seasoned", Snyder only meant about 6-8 years of experience, instead of 12-15 years. Affleck certainly fits that description as well.

@BatManHeisenberg

106 thumbs up?! Where the hell did everyone go?

@Omega

I certainly hope so, I'm completely fine with the rumor that Terrio might've had to completely re-write goyer's script, too.
