BIRDS OF PREY And THE DARK KNIGHT Coming To HBO Max In August, But The HARRY POTTER Movies Are Leaving

Some big DC Comics movies are coming to HBO Max in August - including the classic Batman and Batman Returns - but Harry Potter fans will be saying goodbye to the Boy Wizard's entire series of adventures...

HBO Max's revolving door of content is taking some getting used to, and while a lot of great content is coming to the streaming service in August, a fair bit is leaving as well. Before we get to that, though, there's good news for DC Comics fans as both DC Universe's Harley Quinn animated series and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey are arriving on HBO Max on August 1st and 15th respectively.

Joining them are many of the Caped Crusader's big screen adventures, with Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, 1989's Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin all on the way come August 1st. Christopher Nolan's movies will be streaming on the service for the first time.

We'll also see the likes of Ocean's Eleven, Kung Fu Panda, Jojo Rabbit, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Elf, and new episodes of Doom Patrol, Looney Tunes, and Steven Universe Future

With good news comes bad, though; all eight Harry Potter movies are leaving HBO Max on August 25th, while Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 are also on the way out. Needless to say, fans of the Boy Wizard are going to be disappointed with this latest change to the service.

Are you looking forward to August's offerings on HBO Max?

Why would they remove the four pre-Nolan Batman films only to add them back again a month later, lmao. After this they’ll only be missing Dark Knight Rises and Batman 1966 for live action Batman films.
The 1966 series is currently for free on Roku, remastered in HD. You’d think WB would strike a deal w/ Fox/Roku for those streaming rights.

HBO max is a complete cluster [frick]. Give Disney and Netflix credit. They don't remove shit every month to just put it back the next month. The only thing I can think that Disney removed was home alone and they out it back pretty quickly. HBO max is taking their big shit away all the time

@Mrcool210

Harry Potter is still with NBC in terms of licensing.

It is weird they removed the Batman movies only to put them on the next month.

I don’t have HBOMax, but I recall don’t are for the way they cycle films on and off their service. For me, the whole point of these subscription services is being able to watch something when I get the urge to do so.

@Chewtoy - They're losing Harry Potter due to a pre-existing license deal with NBCUniversal that they signed years ago. Also, the main appeal of the service is still the HBO library and it's not like that's going away anytime soon, lol

@Chewtoy - Man, did auto-correct go nuts on that first sentence. “I really don’t care for the way...”

@TheUnworthyThor

It’s been a shit show of a rollout.

The content on the service is great though. If you don’t just watch blockbusters it’s incredibly varied.

@regularmovieguy - Well it would be helpful if I could actually watch any HBO Max content but I got four TVs in this house connected to Rokus.

Yikes. Yeah, I'd definitely be pissed about that.

I have an XBOX ONE so I lucked out, but yeah I can't believe they still haven't made a deal with [frick]ing Roku. Everyone has a Roku.

this whole "losing it due to pre-existing licensing deals" is [frick]ing stupid
